Weekend Update: Christmas

Anyone else completely lose track of what day of the week it was over Christmas? I am still trying to get back on track. . .  And I’m still on vacation this week! So, honestly, it really doesn’t matter. Winking smile

But, I did want to share my Christmas holiday with you. And in the spirit of Tuesday and treats, I am linking up with Becky for TYT.

Our Christmas celebration started on Christmas Eve with Scott’s family.

His parents and brother came down for the evening. IMG_4058

And my MIL brought the best hostess gift ever. Huge sprinkle sugar cookies! IMG_4033

So, we had dinner, but the highlight is always our dessert table after church . . . it’s epic. Smile

Then, presents. . . .

And Santa came! A new backpack, dump truck and shovel for Luke.

He loved every minute of it.

And I gave the boys matching Purdue sweatshirts.

And totally scored with a new winter coat from Scott!

Abby got a new bed.

Then, we headed up to my parent’s house. And I brought the most wicked cold I have had in a long time. No fun! Thankfully the Afrin helped. . . .

Grandpa and Luke got a new sled.

And Luke loves his new John Deer tractor.

The day after Christmas, Scott and I headed out to do a little shopping. . . we almost bought a 2015 Toyota highlander. . .but decided to sleep on it for a few nights.

And then the final Christmas gathering was with my extended family – including my grandparents. And the most adorable part of the afternoon was when my Grandma said that she made my balsamic crockpot chicken. So cute. Smile

The rest of the weekend was spent at home. Laundry, playing with new toys, and watching the Packers play the dirty Lions – btw omg – did you see that game? What a jerk that Lion was to step on (and stand on!) Aaron Rodgers injured leg!

Anyway. . . hope you had a great Christmas too. Smile

Tell me what your favorite part was!

I am sitting down to write this post a few days before Christmas because I know I will be too busy spending time with family on Christmas Day to type up this post. . .but I hope that you had a great Christmas day and are able to continue enjoying the holiday today as well. And if you are at work. . . you’re almost there, it’s Friday!! Smile

I thought for my favorites this week, I would share some of my favorite things about Christmas time this year. The things that made me smile during the holiday season and that make this time of year so special.

Luke asking to sing three golden monsters (The 12 Days of Christmas).

My Christmas present from my nurse. Perfect for our split house. Thanks Mary!! I told her that I love half of it. Winking smile

The ornaments and Christmas crafts that Luke makes at school.

Elf. Best Christmas movie ever.

The house decorated for Christmas. . . I especially love our white mantle + our stockings.

Extra time with family.

and the crazy stuff that Scott does. . . including torturing the dog.

*no dogs were harmed in the making of this blog post. And she got a humungous treat. Winking smile

Sugar cookies with extra frosting. We only make them at Christmas, so they are extra special and delicious.

Christmas Ornaments Favorites

Popping in to share a few of my Christmas tree ornament favorites from our tree this year. . .

Luke’s 2014 ornament.

Caribou Coffee cup.

Our very 1st vacation ornament from New Orleans 2008. Since then, we have bought an ornament from every family vacation. I love that we started that tradition. It was by accident too – we hadn’t even thought of it, until we were wandering around a shopping area in NOLA and found this ornament and came up with the idea. It is so fun to take a trip down memory lane with our vacation memories while decorating the tree.

Another vacation ornament from our road trip to Jackson Hole, WY.

And from our trip this year to Maui.

And from our 1st married Christmas together.

And one of my favorites from my Mom. Every year growing up, we would get a new ornament from my Mom. The th0ught was then when we had our own house, we would have a collection of ornaments to start our own tree. And I love it.

Do you have a favorite ornament?

And btw I cannot believe Christmas is 2 days away and that Christmas Eve is TOMORROW!!

Linking up with Becky for TYT. Thanks for hosting!!

Weekend Update: 12/21/14

Monday? Craziness.

To be honest, I am not too upset about Monday today. . . I have the rest of 2014 off of work!! It was hard to save my vacation days until the very end of the year, but right now I am super excited about it.

And the other thing that I am excited about? That I really don’t have anything to do. . . other than hang out with Luke and Scott and Abby. The presents are wrapped and my Holiday baking list is complete – ok not quite – those darn sugar cookies still need to be frosted, but I think I can handle that. Winking smile

And I don’t have too many pictures from this weekend to share with you. . . but here’s a few of the highlights. . .

Luke had a friend over for movie night. Two 2 year olds watching TV and eating popcorn on the living room floor is adorable. Bonus points that they were both wearing Mickey Mouse PJs.

Treadmill run with BODYPUMP 92 choreography.

Pancake family breakfast.

Swim time at the YMCA.

Pecan turtle graham bars

And that is pretty much it. . .

Other than I made this for dinner on night and it was delicious. Smile

Super easy and oh so tasty! Pull Apart Pizza Bread

Hope you had a great weekend too!! What were you up to??

And because it was pretty marvelous, I am linking up with Katie (and Erin) for Marvelous in my Monday!

Whoa. Can we just talk about how Christmas is NEXT WEEK? I mean, OMG, when did that happen? And anyone want to run to Target for me. I swear every time I go, I think it is going to be my last time before Christmas and then I need one more thing. . . ‘Tis the season, right?

Anyway, Friday. Yes!! Fist pump. Winking smile

And time for Friday Favorites. . . the little things this week that made me smile.

This new top from Nike – so soft. And thumbs up after teaching bodypump!

Daily laughs from Run Eat Repeat on Instagram.

Coffee Wednesday is officially a thing. Smile

A much needed pedicure. Gold sparkles ftw.

Lukie haircut. He loved his “dinosaur” on his head.

Having a few days off work this week and enjoying some longer runs while watching horrible but entertaining holiday movies.

My Holiday Baking List

Ahhhh the Holidays. . . Christmas music, shopping, wrapping, pictures with Santa, Christmas Eve midnight church service, Christmas trees, Christmas lights, and the baking. Oh the baking. The time of year you buy more butter and sugar than one person should ever have in their house, right?!

This year, I am super excited for Holiday baking. But, I am keeping it reigned in. I love baking, but hate spending an. entire. day. doing it. So, I paired down the list a bit and I think I have come up with my all-time favorites that will *fingers crossed* not take the whole day to complete. . . but make my sugar-loving husband happy. Smile Actually, the key in my house is to not do the baking too far in advance, otherwise, it might not make it to Christmas. I have already had a fail in my house of making RPSs and having most of them already gone. It’s a blessing and a curse that my husband loves my baking as much as he does. Winking smile

Anyway, here is my current Christmas Baking 2014 plan. . .

Oreo Truffle Balls

Christmas Crack

Sugar Cookies –  I use my family’s recipe, but these look amazing too.

Grandma's Homemade Sugar Cookies - Nothin' Better!

Chex Mix

Rolo Pretzel Sandwiches

Dark Chocolate Turtle Graham Bars

What’s on your Holiday baking list??

I am linking up with Peas & Crayons for What I Ate Wednesday this week!!
