Sweet Christmas Chex Mix {best recipe ever}

Have you done your Christmas baking yet?

IMG_9101

Either way, you need to make this recipe!

Laura and I made a batch on Saturday and loved it so much, we made another batch on Sunday.

A coworker of mine made it and gave me a bag of it for Christmas and after Scott ate the whole bag and asked me to get the recipe three times, I knew I had to try to make it. . . and crossed my fingers that it wasn’t too difficult.

And you guys, it is SO easy. And SO yummy.

Sweet Christmas Chex Mix

Ingredients:
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup corn syrup
1/4 t baking soda
5 cups corn chex
5 cups wheat chex
8 oz craisins
8 oz honey roasted peanuts
1 bag m and m’s

Directions:
Place brown sugar, butter and corn syrup in a microwave safe bowl.
Microwave for 1 minute.
Mix. Micowave for another minute.
Add baking soda. Mix.
Add in corn chex. Mix well.
Add in wheat chex. Mix again.

IMG_9105
Lay out on paper bag or baking sheet. Let dry.

IMG_9128
Add craisins, peanuts and m and m’s.

IMG_9131
Eat!

IMG_9129

And enjoy. Smile

This recipe is definitely going to be a family tradition.

Weekending. . . baking all the cookies

Hey! Happy Monday! And happy short work week. Smile

I am working today and tomorrow and then I have Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off.   . . but don’t be too jealous – I have to work all of next weekend.

But this past weekend was awesome.

Kicked off with BODYPUMP.

IMG_9087

And checking out the new YFIT space at the YMCA (basically cross fit at the Y) and did a nice little EMOM of 5 burpees and 10 wall balls. Before and After pics. . . still smiling!

IMG_9088IMG_9089

And then off to my Mom’s house for Christmas baking with my sister.

IMG_9095

We had good taste testers.

IMG_9098

IMG_9109

IMG_9110

Sunday was more of the same. . . coffee and (frosting) cookies.  Smile

IMG_9133

A little outlet mall shopping. . . thankfully it wasn’t too crazy.

And back home.

Dinner and watching season 4 of Revenge to finish the evening.

And now, off to work! Have a good one!

What were you up to this weekend??

I am linking up with Katie (and Erin) for Marvelous in my Monday!

Friday Favorites: Santa!

On Monday night, we went to see Santa. And btw, it was super hard for me to not say “ I KNOW HIM!.” Seriously, love that movie. Smile

Anyway . . . the cuteness was out of control.

And of course, Fluffy had to meet Santa too.

IMG_9028

And Abby comes too!

IMG_9032IMG_9034

IMG_9037

And per tradition for the last three years.. . . dinner at Perkins afterwards for pancakes.

IMG_9056

and this is what happens when you let a 3 year old “take pictures.”

IMG_9045IMG_9047IMG_9051IMG_9053

And yes, Scott was there the whole time too. . . I’m not sure how he escaped not having his picture taken by our paparazzi. Winking smile

Highlight of the week for sure.

Plans for the weekend include lots of baking and some shopping. Christmas baking day with my little sister tomorrow and then I’m going to try to score some deals at the outlet mall on Sunday . . . wish me luck!

What are you up to this weekend? Highlight of the week??

Linking up with Friday fun with Heather!

Weekending. . .

Oh Monday. . . and it’s totally down pouring here today. I can’t complain too much though because I have the day off today but I have a huge long to-do list that I have to get done!

But here’s a quick look at the weekend. . .

I kicked it off with a solo shopping trip to Target. It. was. glorious. And I am just about done with Christmas shopping!

IMG_8947

Quick treadmill run

IMG_8949

And then a trip to the movies – Minions! Our local cheap theater has big recliner chairs that are awesome and thankfully .. .

IMG_8953

perfect for two. Winking smile

IMG_8954

A little afternoon baking. This recipe is a great sweet spin on traditional chex mix.

IMG_8962IMG_8958

Our front door looks festive thanks to a beautiful wreath from Jenny’s youth group.

IMG_8961

No pictures but we had a great night with friends on Saturday night. The kids played, we had great lasagna for dinner and delicious chocolate chip cookies for dessert. #perfection

Sunday was a low key day.

I fit in another treadmill run while watching the Packers win.

IMG_8964

Abby was very excited. . .

IMG_8966

And put together some little packages for all the helpers Luke has at his school (33 college students!). . . but seriously, how adorable are these BBW hand sanitizers??

IMG_9014IMG_9015

And you daily reminder, if you leave your phone unattended, you will have a bazillion pictures of Elias. Smile

IMG_9016

Now, off to tackle that to do list!

What were you up to this weekend??

I am linking up with Katie (and Erin) for Marvelous in my Monday!
