Happy Friday!! I’m typing this from the living room floor. .. baby on one side, caramel latte on the other. #necessary
I’ll start by saying that watching Jake kick his little legs is one of my favorite things right now.
I survived my first week at home with two kids. Keeping it real by saying that Luke goes to preschool during the day, so it’s mostly just Jake and I, but getting two kids fed, dressed and out the door is a new experience!
I finally took Jake’s one month pictures. . . a few days late #secondkidproblems
Isn’t his Wisconsin onsie adorable? Thanks Aunt Laura!
I made it to a BODYPUMP class at the YMCA. It felt good to be back! Now, I just have to build my strength back up. . . it’s amazing how quickly you lose your strength!!
Date at the Mermaid store (Starbucks).
Snow day + coffee = winning
Trying to shovel while wearing a baby = not winning.
Yesterday my friend Leah came over to visit. She was amazing and brought dinner + this “kitchen sink” cookie from Panera. Let’s just say it didn’t survive the afternoon.
Now. . . on to the weekend! I’m not sure what’s on tap yet. . . maybe a movie, some baking, running, and of course, baby snuggles.
What was your favorite from the week? Plans for the weekend??
Today is my first day alone with the boys!
So far, so good.
Both kids are dressed and fed. Winning.
We had a great weekend of doing nothing around here!
Friday snuggles while watching the Inauguration coverage.
Up bright and early Saturday morning. Thank goodness for spark.
My running partner.
One month old!
Saturday night date with friends at Pizza Ranch.
Sunday morning muffins. Thanks to Krusteaz for sending me yummy muffins!
I haven’t posted anything about Abby in a while. . . she is doing good! You can usually find her in “her spot” on the couch.
Sunday morning started with a quick run and BODYPUMP 100. I am in love with the triceps, biceps and lunge tracks. I cannot wait to get back to teaching to teach it!
Followed by track building. #lifeofamom
Baby wearing for the win to get dinner ready while taking care of 2 kids.
Evening nap on the living room floor.
It was a great weekend with my little family!
Wish me luck for the rest of my first day at home with the boys! Goals for the day include running during nap time, taking a shower, and tummy time.
Hope you have a great Monday! How was your weekend??
This week flew by! Jake is officially one month old tomorrow. Time. slow. down.
The highlight of my week was getting Jake’s newborn photos back. . .
I am totally biased but I am in love with these boys.
And how adorable are sleeping babies? heart melting.
almost makes me consider having another one. almost.
I am super excited for the game on Sunday. My Mom made sure to dress Jake appropriately for the game last weekend. . . go Pack!
First post-baby date night and margarita.
And when did my first baby get so big??
And it feels so good to be back to running. Man, I missed it!
Looking forward to another weekend with very little plans. . . date with friends tomorrow night with the kids, baby snuggles, and playing Legos with Luke. . . and some couch time with Scott.
What are you up to this weekend? Best thing about your week??
No, for real, it’s been really good so far. #boymom
Luke is old enough to do a lot of things on his own – get dressed, use the bathroom, play Legos, etc. which makes it a lot easier when I have both hands full feeding/changing Jake. Luke is also very thoughtful and caring, which makes him a great big brother.
He hasn’t seem to mind that Jake is taking some of Mom and Dad’s attention away from him. He’s full of hugs and kisses for baby brother.
He LOVES including Jake in any activities we can. . . putting him on the table in his bouncer during family dinner, having him in bed with us while we read books before bedtime. I’ve also caught him checking on Jake or he will go and get a few books from Jake’s room and then “read” them to him.
It’s not all roses. There have been some melt downs and we’ve been extra attentive to Luke to make sure the transition goes well for all, but overall, (knock on wood), it’s going well.
It also helps that Jake is (so far) a pretty laid back baby. He hasn’t been a big crier yet. . . only when hungry or with diaper changes. He’s a decent sleeper, 3-4 hours at a time at nighttime.
And the biggest help of all, the fact that Scott is home with me for a month.
I’ll definitely do an updated post when Scott goes back to work and then when I go back to work after three months.
It’s all about adjusting to a new normal. . . Jake has only been here for a little over three weeks, but I already can’t imagine life without him in our family.
We are so blessed and thankful for our family.
Happy Friday! The weeks are already flying by and Jake is three weeks old already!
No specific plans for the weekend. . . my Mom is coming, so hopefully will be able to catch up on some sleep, eat some good food and enjoy hanging out.
Just a few favorites to share from the week that made me smile. . .
Scott is home on paternity leave for a month, so nice to spend extra time with all my boys . . .
Early morning snuggles.
Baby and coffee. . . does it get any better?
Time and dinner with friends.
And a sneak peek at Jake’s newborn photos.
Happy Friday!! Have a great day!
What are you up to this weekend??
Hey! Happy Monday!!
I’m extra happy today after a big Packer win last night.
And I cannot believe it has been so long since I’ve done a weekend post!
Nothing super exciting happened this weekend, but I actually took pictures to share a snapshot of current life. . .
Pink sparkle pedicure.. .
Spark was #necessary on Saturday morning
Just a little “light” reading about Al Capone.
Super excited to get back into running after 6+ months without it! A little run/walk to start getting back into it.
Using afternoon nap time to research Disney World. . . planning a trip for the end of March. . . any suggestions or tips appreciated! There are so many options and things to do, it’s hard to know where to start or what to do!!
Luke thought Pie Face was hilarious. . . and I did too.
Solo trip to the grocery store on Saturday night. #adulting
Scott’s Mom made peppermint bon bon dessert for Christmas and let us keep the leftovers. .. omg SO good!
Sunday morning = finally taking down the Christmas decorations.
You should have seen how excited Luke was to vacuum his own bedroom.
Afternoon play time.
Floor play time while watching the Packers. . .
Brother bath time success. Super adorable.
It was a great weekend with no plans. . . just life and hanging out. #perfection
What were you up to??
Anyone else still in disbelief that it is already January? And that Christmas is already almost two weeks ago?
I still wanted to share pictures from our celebrations. . .
We were by ourselves for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We went to an early church service on Christmas Eve and then came home and put the boys in their Christmas PJs. . .
Luke was very excited to see that Santa came while he was sleeping and brought him a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle truck.
We had a family breakfast (I made that yummy Cinnamon Roll Bake) and Luke wanted to sit next to baby brother.
The day after Christmas, my family (Mom and sisters) came over to celebrate and snuggle Jake.
And we finally just wrapped up Christmas celebrations last weekend with Scott’s family.
And now comes the decision as to when to take down the Christmas tree and decorations. . . I think we usually take them down the day after New Years, but this year, we still have them up. . . they are just so pretty!
When do you take down your Christmas tree and decorations??
I cannot believe that our baby boy is two weeks old already. . .
Jake Thomas Thompson was born on 12/21/16 at 8:04am.
He was 8lbs 1oz and 21 inches long.
Luke was off from school for Christmas vacation so the last two weeks have been all about baby snuggles and family time.
I’ll be back soon with a recap of the holidays and thoughts on two kids!
