So, as you all know, I started the Advocare 24 day challenge on Monday. I have a few reasons that I am completing the challenge.
#1. Becky talked me into it. Kidding (sort of). . . she had such great results from her first challenge back in January and had really high praise for the entire challenge, and her energy is contagious. It also helped that Caroline said all the same things about it!
#2. so my clothes fit better –> they have been a bit snug since getting back from Hawaii and you know, that never feels good.
#3. so I feel better. don’t get me wrong, I don’t feel bad, but I know if I can feel better. Remember that saying “you can’t out run your fork.” I feel like I have been trying to do that with not eating the best but continuing to hit it hard with bodypump and running. I want to change that. I want to operate on all cylinders –> by matching my eating habits with my working out habits.
#4. more energy. One of the things that really appeals to me about the challenge is how much energy people seem to have on it. With a toddler at home and a busy schedule otherwise, more energy = yes please.
#5. to develop better habits – a huge part of the challenge is CLEAN eating. While this will be the most challenging part, I think it will have the most benefit on how I feel. Scott isn’t doing the challenge with me, but I am not cooking separately for him, so I am going to be interested to see how he feels as well. Life is busy, we eat pretty decent most of the time, but I know we can do MUCH better.
#6. to lose a bit of weight – I mean really, who wouldn’t like to lose 5-10 pounds?
#7. to get a break from coffee – it’s no secret that I LOVE my daily caramel skim latte. I have had one pretty much daily for the past 8 years (at least). And while I love it and it makes me happy, I’m interested to see how switching it up to spark in the morning changes things – more energy, less energy, will I miss my latte, are there better things out there?
Today is Day 4 of the challenge:
The first 10 days are the Cleanse Phase of the challenge.
- Fiber Drink mixed with 8 oz water + 2-16 oz water, wait 30 minutes
- Spark mixed in 20 oz water + 2 Catalyst, wait 20 minutes
- Morning Snack
- Afternoon Snack with 2 Catalyst.
- Before Bed: Herbal Cleanse tablets
*Love Spark. I thought I would miss my morning latte way more. but Spark is delicious and makes me feel more awake than coffee!
*Hate the fiber drink.
I didn’t think it would be that much of an issue – how hard can it be to chug 8oz of gross water? OMG so tough. It stimulated my gag reflex and I thought I was going to puke. I drank *most* of it. Thinking about it now just sends shivers up my spine. I don’t know if I would do that again. *Day 2 was better – plug and chug is the only way to do it.
*Love clean eating. You put good things in your body, you get good results. **recipe coming next week.
I’ve also been sipping on hot water with lemon (thanks Caroline!) and I love that!
*Not sure yet – I have no idea what the catalyst and herbal cleanse are doing/if they are working. . .
BUT, I have noticed that my stomach is flatter, my pants fit better, and I feel good. It’s hard to know if that is from Advocare or just clean eating – i.e. I haven’t had any carbs or sweets since starting on Monday morning.
