Advocare–max phase recap + results

So, here is my final recap of my first 24 day Advocare challenge. . .

Missed the first 2 updates?
Advocare – the 1st three days and why I did my first challenge
Advocare Update – the cleanse phase

First my thoughts. . .

#1. The most amazing thing. ..  I didn’t miss my daily caramel skim latte (that I have been drinking every day for the past 8+ years) AT ALL. That was my biggest worry going into this challenge and why I didn’t do it sooner. I was afraid that I would miss my latte too much. But it ended up being a total non-issue. Spark is the best.

** And a huge shout out to Chris for saving me this weekend with a few spark samples from her collection since I was a dumb bunny and didn’t order more spark in time for the weekend and was totally dying without it! Thanks Chris! I owe you one.

I am loving starting my day with spark (my favorite flavors: grape, fruit punch and pink lemonade). I think it gives me more energy, better focus, and longer lasting effects than coffee ever did. Of course, I still love Caribou coffee lattes (although – truth be told, not as much as before). . .but I think they will be more of a weekend treat from now on.

#2. Clean eating is A LOT of work. Planning ahead. Meal planning. Prep work. Thinking about your next 6 meals and making sure everything is ready to go for them.

And you know what? It’s worth it. I feel good eating good food. What a concept, right? I really didn’t miss the cheese or dairy. Another amazing thing. Scott said he really didn’t notice too much of a difference in our dinners, other than more veggies.

#3. I missed pop way more than I thought I would. I don’t drink it that often, but when I do, it is nice to have!

#4. I didn’t miss alcohol too much. One super nice sunshine-y day, it would have been nice but I am not a huge drinker to begin with. . . one margarita maybe once every other month. And a Leinenkugel’s Berry Weiss beer in the summer.

#5. I love avocados, but I usually don’t buy them – $1 for one, seriously? I know, I should totally move to California where it sounds like they give them away! But they have been a staple during the challenge. And you know what, I think it is worth it. Real food. Yes please. I love swapping it out for mayo or miracle whip in my chicken salad (thanks for the amazing idea Becky!).

#6. I am not a pill taker. I don’t take a multivitamin. So, this challenge was a lot of pills. And some of them are pretty big. But it was totally doable. Just glad to be done taking all of those pills.

#7. Love experimenting with recipes I normally wouldn’t have – i.e almond flour in my new favorite muffins.

#8. I’m going to continue drinking spark in the morning and before teaching bodypump. I am interested to see how I feel with using spark and doing clean eating and comparing that to taking the MNS3 supplements during the challenge.

#9. I am a true believer in spark as workout fuel. I love drinking about half a serving before class and drinking the rest during class. I have been able to lift heavier teaching BP these last few weeks than before. . .

#10. It’s spendy. But based on how I feel now – 100% worth it.

#11. It’s not easy. The pills, clean eating, not eating dessert, but again, if you stick with it, totally worth it.

#12. I wasn’t hungry. Sure, I was ready for meals, like normal, but with eating breakfast, lunch, dinner and 2 snacks.. .  and filling up on real food = happy Katie.

And now my results. . .

Oh, and like I mentioned before, I’ve signed up to be an Advocare distributor. I plan on continuing to drink spark daily + use other Advocare products and Becky was super smart in telling me that it is beneficial to sign up as a distributor and save your 20% off of  products. It’s about $70 but you get 14-servings of Spark and another Advocare product sample with your materials and the 20% can add up quickly.

In addition to the discount for my own products, I seriously want to tell everyone about how awesome advocare is and why they should try it out! The 24 day challenge is a great place to start, but if you are interested in checking out any of the Advocare products, or want to try it but you aren’t quite up to the challenge, email me (running4cupcakes@gmail.com) and I can give you lots of advice on how to get started with Advocare! Smile

And of course, I am linking up with Becky today for Treat Yourself Tuesday because Advocare is one of the best ways to treat yourself!!

  1. Hooray for Blends!! I have one cup of coffee a day which I would’t give up for anything! But I also usually have a diet coke at noon and lately I’ve found myself struggling to finish it, I might have to give spark a try for my afternoon mix up!

Also, glad to know I’m not the only one who doesn’t like to take pills!

I didn’t think I could even LIVE without my latte in the morning, but I have to say I really love Spark even more!

  2. Chris Schull

so glad you had great results! Spark is a good fuel! I save them for days I really really need them. Try a warm lemon water in the morning before your spark to flush out the kidneys! You will find you like that too! Clean eating is really the secret to it all…don’t go back to processed foods…your tummy will let you know it doesn’t like it!

  3. You did it, Katie! I’m so happy you feel so great! You look amazing (you always do though) and you gals are so inspiring! I completely agree, clean eating is a lot of work but just like you said, it is so totally worth it!

  4. Wow!! What amazing results! So excited for you. It totally is worth signing up as a distributor just for the discount. You should look into some of the other products. I love the arginine extreme and o2 gold for pre workout!! And the nighttime recovery is awesome!!! My mom and I both love it.
Anyways! Awesome job on your first challenge.

I love that you practice what you preach and keep pushing yourself. That is a big part of the reason I keep coming back to your class – surround yourself with people you admire and want to be like. Keep being a positive influence!

  6. Awesome results! I’m not a pill taker either, so that part would definitely be hard for me. This spark stuff sounds pretty tasty, though!

  9. I loved reading this recap!! What great results you had, congratulations you look awesome!! Welcome to the addicted to Spark for life club! 🙂

  10. Major kudos to you to finish the 24DC! I’ve always been tempted to, but I am a dairy nut, I don’t know if I could go that long without milk, cheese or yogurt. Your results prove it’s worth it!

Thanks Shannon! And it was tough, but totally doable. There is a 10 day challenge too, if you are interested! And yes, I think the results are totally worth it. 🙂

  11. Thanks for the summary! It sounds so neat, but I also don’t tink I can cut so many things out of my diet. I’m having a hard enough time just eating healthy lately!

interestingly enough, I think that cutting everything out at once made it easier than just trying to eat healthy – if that makes sense at all. Also, if you are interested, there are lots of products that can be helpful and you don’t HAVE to do the 24DC!

  12. Congrats on your awesome results, Katie! 🙂 And those pills look awful..I am SO not a pill person either :/

  15. I seriously want to do this, but cannot give up my coffee or tea. Any suggestions? What is the impact you think if I still drink coffee? I usually drink plain black coffee or green tea in the morning. I’m not a fancier coffee drinker.
