Sunday thoughts. . .

Hey there! Happy Sunday night!

Tomorrow is my last day of work before starting maternity leave. . . wish me luck. Smile

It was super cold, windy and snowy here this weekend, so we didn’t do a whole lot. . .

Luke and I made sugar cookies.

I made a batch of RPSs and Christmas Crack. . . I switched it up and used white chocolate chips and sprinkled pecans.

I liked the white chocolate chips better, although next time I would use about 1/2 bag instead of a whole bag. And heck yes to the pecans.

We played and watched too much HGTV.

Took some final bump pictures. 39 weeks!

Random thoughts for you. . .

I am getting the ingredients to make this on Christmas morning.

I’ve made it before (actually on Christmas last year) and it is SO easy and So good!

Scott loves the Autumn Squash soup from Panera and I have been trying to recreate it at home. . . and this recipe is awesome.

I made some egg cups this past weekend, so easy and so good.

And if someone wants to bring me some of these, that would be amazing. Smile

Salted Caramel Ritz Cracker Cookies

And that’s about it! What were you up to this weekend??

Friday Favorites: Bumpin’ in Charleston

Hey hey – Happy Fri- YAY!

I have to work all weekend long but that’s totally ok, because Scott and I just got back from a long weekend in Charleston, South Carolina. I was there for a medical conference and Scott tagged along. My Mom came and watched Luke and they had so. much. fun. And Scott and I enjoyed extra sleep, good food and quality conversation and time together. It was perfect. I think I took a total of 3 pictures. . .

Tour of Fort Sumter.

34 weeks.

Checking out the harbor and watching the dolphins swim.

Food highlights include Lewis BBQ {get the brisket}, King Street Cookies {two words – s’mores cookie}, Old Village Post House {delicious steak}, Another Broken Egg {get the biscuit beignets}, 82 Queen {brunch!}.

And I can’t believe I never shared any Halloween pictures. ..

And doesn’t Halloween seem like forever ago already??

And how is Thanksgiving next week?? This pregnant lady is SO excited for Thanksgiving dinner. I’m most excited for mashed potatoes and gravy. . . and pie. . . and Jennie-O sent me another turkey to make for Thanksgiving this year.

We made it last year and it was SO good. Juicy and delicious.

And SO easy to make!

Other life stuff. . .

I just finished this book and I can’t recommend it enough. SO good!

Trying to find a diaper bag..  . I think this one might be a winner.. .

Every night in our house. Candles forever.

I totally went out of my comfort zone with grey nails. And I love them!

And this latest package from Krusteaz makes me SO excited for Holiday baking!! This baby better stay in until I have a chance to get some baking done! Winking smile

I know Luke and I are going to have some fun with these decorating edible frosting pens!

And I’m still teaching BODYPUMP twice per week and loving it. Fingers crossed that I continue to feel good and can keep teaching until the end! I picked up  these old navy maternity workout pants a few weeks ago. love the subtle design and they are super comfy.

Friday Favorites: Headed to Des Moines!

Happy Friday!!

I’m headed to Des Moines this weekend for an AdvoCare event. I’m excited to hear more about AdvoCare. .. I’ve been involved with the company for about 2 years now and still love them. Hello SPARK. . . And if it’s anything like success school was, then I’m in for a good event. AND Laura is coming with me! She’s building her business too and I’m so excited for her. Plus we are going for the whole weekend – pedicures, shopping + hanging out. I. can’t. wait.

Speaking of my little sister. . . she did this to her dog’s tail last week. I know, right?

Apparently, she was trying to cut out some matting and then all of the sudden, her tail was basically gone. Pretty sure any girl who has tried to cut their own bangs can understand how you are just cutting a little hair and then the next thing you know, they are all gone. Totally happened to me in 6th grade. It was awful!

Anyway. . . here are a few of my recent favs. . .

I’m super excited about my new running calendar. Pink + chevron = winning.

Afternoon lunch date with my boys.

Cookie baking buddy.

BODYPUMP + pink everything. Smile

Seeing my top 10 clean eating recipes getting shared with the newest group of AdvoCare challengers. . . and psst – you don’t need to be doing any sort of challenge to make and love these recipes!

A haircut. Finally. It had seriously been a year. It was just a trim, but it feels so much better!

And this. I just had to laugh. Yup, that’s a container of play d’oh in my coffee. And yes, I took it out and still drank it! Winking smile #reallife #momlife

Extra time with this guy. Fun at the Children’s museum.

A good visit to the vet for Abby. She’s had this weird lump on her neck for a while and it started to get bigger, so I took her in to get it checked out and feared the worst, but thankfully, it’s nothing to be worried about. Thank goodness!!

Now, off to the weekend. . .

Have a great one! Whatcha up to??

Weekending. . . baking all the cookies

Hey! Happy Monday! And happy short work week. Smile

I am working today and tomorrow and then I have Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off.   . . but don’t be too jealous – I have to work all of next weekend.

But this past weekend was awesome.

Kicked off with BODYPUMP.

And checking out the new YFIT space at the YMCA (basically cross fit at the Y) and did a nice little EMOM of 5 burpees and 10 wall balls. Before and After pics. . . still smiling!

And then off to my Mom’s house for Christmas baking with my sister.

We had good taste testers.

Sunday was more of the same. . . coffee and (frosting) cookies.  Smile

A little outlet mall shopping. . . thankfully it wasn’t too crazy.

And back home.

Dinner and watching season 4 of Revenge to finish the evening.

And now, off to work! Have a good one!

What were you up to this weekend??

I am linking up with Katie (and Erin) for Marvelous in my Monday!

And finally the winner for the Krusteaz Holiday cookie giveaway –> congratulations to Steph!

Friday Favorites: Fall!

Friday happy dance. We made it. #boom

I am looking forward to a low key weekend with no plans (other than launching BP95 on Saturday morning!) and nothing that HAS to be done. Usually when the weekend rolls around I have a to do list of everything I didn’t get done during the week or needs to get done before the next week starts. . . and this weekend, there is NO list. Hallelujah. Winking smile There are a few things I’d like to do – some baking, the Farmer’s Market, watching Prison Break, take Luke to the park, but it is just nice to not have to do anything too.

Back with some Friday Favorites this week. . .

Running with Luke. I pushed him in the jogging stroller for our run together and then he wanted to run with me at the end. . . so we ran the last 1/4 mile together! And I am loving the fall running weather!!

Reading books to Luke that are from my childhood.

Panera Autumn Squash Soup. <love>

These apple cheesecake bars. I think I am going to have to make them this weekend. They are a bit more work than I usually put into making bars, but sooooo good.

Fall decorations.

A quick shout out to my husband. He’s been working so hard lately for our family (more details about this next week) but I just want him to know how much I appreciate all his hard work and I know it will all be worth it in the end.

And don’t forget to enter my two giveaways going on right now – Krusteaz Breakfast giveaway AND Adora Calcium Supplement giveaway!

Your turn! Current favorites from the week? Plans for the weekend?

Cookie time with Krusteaz {+giveaway}

This weekend at the Lake, Luke and I got busy in the kitchen thanks to Krusteaz. They were nice enough to send me some of their new cookie mixes.

And OMG. So easy and so good. And perfect for my little helper in the kitchen.

Luke is at this super fun age (3 1/2) where he wants to help and he is starting to be able to really help with mixing and measuring without making a huge mess. . . I mean, we still make a mess, but at least both of us don’t need to shower after a batch of cookies. . .

So, we picked out two flavors to try – triple chocolate chunk and brown sugar oatmeal. Spoiler alert – both delicious.

All you do is add a stick of softened butter and an egg to the mix. Mix all together. And bake.

It took Luke and I about 15 minutes to get the mixes all put together. *If I was working alone, it would probably be about 5 minutes.

And eat.

And then Luke loved serving them to everyone waiting on the porch.

Thanks Krusteaz for a fun family activity and yummy cookies. Smile

And now one lucky R4C reader will win a Krusteaz Back to School prize pack containing cookie mixes, an apron, oven mitt, and a lunchbox!

Pretty awesome, right?

Friday Favorites: smiles

Happy Friday!!

This was my first week back to work after having surgery, but thankfully it went well and the week seemed to fly by. . . now just to get through today and then on to the weekend. We don’t have any big plans – other than a 4 year old birthday party (her Mom makes the best cake!) and a trip to the Minnesota State Fair on Monday!!

Here are the things that helped me smile this week. . .

1. spark. Monday morning was t.o.u.g.h. but thankfully after I mixed up my spark, I felt ready to take on the day! #success

btw – next big group challenge is staring on September 8th, if you are interested in joining in, just let me know! Smile

2. bath time. love.

3. national dog day. cuteness.

4. rocksbox. loved this necklace from my latest box.

Unfortunately it was a little more than I would typically spend, but I had fun wearing it at work. Excited to see what comes in my next box. . . don’t forget to use the code running4cupcakesxoxo to get a month FREE.

5. Snack time.

So, I don’t know why I haven’t tried these almonds before. They are amazing. Super glad Influenster sent them to me to try out. They might be my new favorite afternoon snack.

6. Making energy balls with my favorite chef.

Cheers to a great weekend!! What are you up to??

Weekend Update: 5/31/15

Woooooo Monday.

Ummm nope.

Is it just me, or did this weekend fly by? Like way shorter than usual?

Oh well. .. at least it was a really good one!

Kicked off the weekend with a killer partner WOD at Cross Fit.

(me + some random guy stretching it out. . .)

Rocking my new shirt (that my sister, Laura made!). And yes, I am stronger than cancer. Smile

Then, it was off to the Farmer’s Market. And oh my goodness, it is amazing!

I got my all time favorite Farmer’s Market purchase = fresh lettuce.

Can you believe that $4 bought me all of this? I LOVE it.

Play time at the park.

A really nice birthday surprise from my blends (Becky, Caroline, and Melanie). Thanks ladies!! <3

Laura and Jenny came over for dinner on Saturday night. Honey roasted chicken salad over lettuce. . . because, you know, I had a lot of lettuce. Winking smile

And then the dog park.

Sunday started with church service at my sister’s church.

Followed by a beautiful sunshine run with gorgeous river views.

Play time.

A little quite time on the couch.

Some afternoon baking.

And the rest of Sunday was spent helping my sister hit the ground running with AdvoCare (SO excited to start a challenge with her next week!!), family dinner, and enjoying the nice weather outside.

Happiness is the sound of Scott and Luke reading books together – especially Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. So adorable.

Early bedtime = weekend perfection. Smile

So, what were you up to?

I am linking up with Katie (and Erin) for Marvelous in my Monday!

And congratulations to the winner of the Balance Bar Summer GiveawayKate! Check your email for details!!

My Holiday Baking List

Ahhhh the Holidays. . . Christmas music, shopping, wrapping, pictures with Santa, Christmas Eve midnight church service, Christmas trees, Christmas lights, and the baking. Oh the baking. The time of year you buy more butter and sugar than one person should ever have in their house, right?!

This year, I am super excited for Holiday baking. But, I am keeping it reigned in. I love baking, but hate spending an. entire. day. doing it. So, I paired down the list a bit and I think I have come up with my all-time favorites that will *fingers crossed* not take the whole day to complete. . . but make my sugar-loving husband happy. Smile Actually, the key in my house is to not do the baking too far in advance, otherwise, it might not make it to Christmas. I have already had a fail in my house of making RPSs and having most of them already gone. It’s a blessing and a curse that my husband loves my baking as much as he does. Winking smile

Anyway, here is my current Christmas Baking 2014 plan. . .

Oreo Truffle Balls

Christmas Crack

Sugar Cookies –  I use my family’s recipe, but these look amazing too.

Grandma's Homemade Sugar Cookies - Nothin' Better!

Chex Mix

Rolo Pretzel Sandwiches

Dark Chocolate Turtle Graham Bars

Dark Chocolate Turtle Graham Bars

What’s on your Holiday baking list??

I am linking up with Peas & Crayons for What I Ate Wednesday this week!!
