Friday Favorites: Feeling the love

Whew. Finally Friday!

We don’t have any plans for the weekend other than dinner with friends tomorrow night and I am excited. There is more work to be done on the house – probably some painting will happen this weekend, I still need to check out BODYPUMP 96 and I am hoping to get some Christmas shopping done.

This week I was totally feeling the love. . .

My best blends (Becky, Melanie, and Caroline) sent me a care package. With a new smoothie cup, some Target trail mix,

IMG_8928

and a new dinosaur friend for Luke. . . which has not left his side since he got it. And he named it “Fluffy.” Love it.

IMG_8932IMG_8939

I had the day off on Wednesday and I was able to meet my Mom and sister half way at a little outlet mall for some lunch,

IMG_8935

and shopping. . . I may have gone overboard at BBW – but hey – it was all on sale. Smile

IMG_8938

I was totally surprised (like had to “sit down on the floor after GRIT” surprised) by my friends at the YMCA with a “Tree for Life” planted in memory of Dad. It is the perfect gift and I am just blown away by their support and friendship. #soluckytohavethem

IMG_8930

And due to a delivery mix up, my Hello Fresh package this week ended up in WI. I asked my sister to pick it up and use it so it wouldn’t go to waste. Not only did she pick it up, but she brought it when we met on Wednesday so that our family could use it. Gosh, that was so nice. And we had some delicious burgers (Italian ciabatta burgers with carmelized onions and arugula).

IMG_8940

Seriously, if you haven’t checked out Hello Fresh – try it! You won’t be disappointed. Use this code –> QTHC5N for $40 off your first box.

What made you smile this week? Plans for the weekend??

Linking up with Friday fun with Heather!

Weekend Update: 8/10/14–> AdvoCare Success School

whoa.

what a weekend.

I am exhausted, excited, inspired and grateful.

The opportunity to attend success school was one that I won’t soon forget.

I’m not going to go into specifics, but let’s just leave it at the fact that AdvoCare is pretty awesome and I am super happy to be part of such an amazing company. <—if you want more details about Success School or AdvoCare, just shoot me an email and I would be more than happy to fill you in.  Smile

But, let’s back up and look at the weekend.

Luke and I went for a beautiful 6.5 mile run and had to stop to check out the fountain at Minnesota State University

IMG_2074

And play at the park and swing with the bulldozer. . .

IMG_2078IMG_2080

After nap time and getting ready to go, we hit the road. . .

and made a pit stop to see Melanie (and her cute baby bump!) for dinner.

IMG_2089

Then, it was up bright and early to the airport for my flight to Dallas.

IMG_2092

Thankfully, a good book and some spark made my flight go by quick!

IMG_2096IMG_2098

And finally reunited with my blend Becky!

IMG_2100

And I finally got to meet Lauren! She is just as adorable in person as she is online.

IMG_2104

The Advo team. . .

IMG_2111

Success school was held at Cowboy field. . . even though I am a die-hard Packers fan –> it was pretty cool to be ON the field. Smile

IMG_2114

Success school.. .

IMG_2116

including a new AdvoCare skin care line – Supplement Your Skin. . .

IMG_2120

IMG_2121IMG_2122

IMG_2125

And then Becky and I decided to get up at 5am on Sunday morning to knock out 10 miles before the sun came up in Texas. It was still hot – but we got it done!

IMG_2130

Plane ride, lunch with my Dad and Luke, back to Mankato, and getting ready for work tomorrow = Sunday.

Whew – what a weekend!

What were you up to??

And because it was pretty marvelous, I am linking up with Katie for Marvelous in my Monday!

Happy Friday!! What are you up to this weekend? Scott is planning to continue work outside on the retaining walls, I have to work, we have a get-together planned with a bunch of friends on Sunday, and I am hoping to be able to stop by and visit a friend’s new baby.

Here are my little things from this week that made me smile. . .

#1. Watching the trees get green. Warmer weather is coming!!

IMG_0766

#2. Being smoothie buddies with Luke.

IMG_0748

I cannot make a smoothie for myself without making one for him too. . . if I try, he wants to share mine and will pretty much drink the whole thing. . . “my turn Mommy.”

#3. Hanging with my sisters. We did Paint Night last week and it was awesome. I wish we got together more frequently.

IMG_0729

IMG_0733IMG_0734

IMG_0736IMG_0725

IMG_0738

IMG_0740

Ladies – we should get our next get-together on the calendar!

#4. Luke’s new toy bucket. A super cheap, easy party prop for his construction themed party and now the perfect place to hold all of his tools.

IMG_0707IMG_0708

#5. This AdvoBar snack – tastes like a milky way with 10 grams of protein.

IMG_0701

#6. An early birthday present.

IMG_0835

A new lulu top from my best blends (Becky, Melanie & Caroline)! Isn’t it so adorable? I wore it to teach bodypump on Wednesday night and loved it! Thanks again ladies. XOXO.

And now you tell me. . . what made you smile this week??

Oh man, I am SO excited.

#1 – it’s Friday.

#2 – I am heading to Chicago to spend the weekend with my best blends. Expect lots of instagram photos this weekend. Smile

So of course, these ladies are Friday Favorite #1 –> Becky, Melanie and Caroline.

IMG_5961

Also on my list this week, a few cool ideas from this website.

ScreenHunter_158 Mar. 25 20.51ScreenHunter_159 Mar. 25 20.54

And honey teddy grahams –> so good! Best when eaten on the couch while snuggling with a puppy who has no concept of personal space or any idea how big her butt really is. ..

IMG_6931_thumb

This kid, who, while we were checking out things at the new house, found a bag of trail mix, dumped it out, and then proceeded to eat all the M and M’s out of it and nothing else. . . yup, he’s totally mine. Winking smile

IMG_9734IMG_9736

Teaching a new (to me) BODYPUMP release – 80. It was awesome. I love it. Now, onto learning 89!

IMG_9740

House progress. ..

IMG_9741

Jamberry nails and my all-time favorite candy.

Happy Friday. Are you doing the Friday dance too?

Luke and I are going to kick off the weekend by heading to the YMCA – teaching spin/bodypump class this morning and then some ball pit action for Luke. We have another weekend with nothing planned. Well, that’s not exactly true – I’ve kept our schedule free, so Scott can spend lots of time working on the new house. So, Luke and I will do lots of visiting, playing and keeping the townhome in shape. Also, looking forward to getting in a few treadmill runs during naptime and meal planning. I know, it’s ok to be jealous of my awesome life. Winking smile

Here are my favorites from this week. . .

My husband.

IMG_8632

He is working so hard making sure everything is going right with the house, spending lots of time on the phone with the builder and contractor. As well as he is spending evenings and weekends working on finishing the basement! I am so thankful to #1 have such a hardworking husband #2 to have such a handy husband who can finish a basement! #3 for his attention to detail because I know our house is going to be awesome because of it. . .

Active Accessories on-the-go hair bands – of course I love the pink color! (btw – do you have any idea how hard it is to take a picture of your hair?)

IMG_8530IMG_8538

and they have a super cute on-the go accessory pouch. Perfect for your phone, chapstick and gym card.

IMG_8542IMG_8543

I was sent this products for free from Active Accessories for my review, but, as usual, all opinions at 100% my own on R4C. . . but also, the hair bands showed up at just the right time because I could not find my usual hair bands ANYWHERE. . . well, guess where I found them 3 days later. ..

IMG_8503

I guess they needed to be used as cargo in the dump truck.

AND you all can get 25% OFF your purchase on their website with coupon code: Running4Cupcakes. It expires on Valentine’s Day!

Bringing my own coffee to work. #1. Saving $5 = awesome #2. I love my nespresso machine and it makes pretty great lattes.

IMG_6469

Speaking of coffee. .. this sign in my office always makes me smile.

IMG_8702

My 1st juice – carrots and apple.

IMG_8567IMG_8569

After watching Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, I was inspired to try a fresh pressed juice. I don’t have my own juicer, so I checked out the one (?!? downside of living in a small town) place that sells fresh pressed juice. The verdict – LOVED it. Can’t wait to get my own juicer (hopefully soon, my friend Sue is going to let me check out one of hers!) and try some greens!

Google hangouts with my favorite blends (Becky, Melanie & Caroline). <good for my soul> Thanks again for the chat ladies. Smile

IMG_8697

Tell me some of your little favorites from the week? And weekend plans?

Please link up with any Friday post of your own – all are welcome!!

Banana Bread – Nutella Cookies from Olives ‘n’ wine

Happy 1 year blog-versary to my good blend, Becky!! In honor of her 1 year blog-versary, Erica and Katie put together a fun virtual blog potluck where everyone makes and posts one of Becky’s awesome recipes!! Since she gave me her leftover jar of Nutella at HLS. . .

IMG_7024

I thought it was only right to make some of her yummy banana bread – nutella cookies!! Banana bread + nutella + cookies = deliciousness. Winking smile

IMG_7027IMG_7026

IMG_7028

IMG_7030

IMG_7034IMG_7037

Luke approved!

IMG_7045

Banana Bread – Nutella Cookies – from Olives’ n’ Wine

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup Nutella

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2. In a medium bowl, mix together flour, baking soda and salt and set aside.
3. In a large bowl, combine sugars, bananas, egg and butter.
4. Add flour mixture to banana mixture and then stir in oats.
5. Plop spoonfuls of Nutella into batter and swirl with spoon (you don’t want to completely mix the Nutella – this would remove the swirl effect!).
6. Spoon batter onto cookie sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes, until the edges of the cookies slightly browned.
7. Allow to cool for 1-2 minutes on cookie sheet then remove to wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy!

PS: Don’t get lazy and think you can make these into mini muffins instead of cookies. . . #majorfail  . . . but thankfully, still delicious. Winking smile

Friday Favorites: 10/25/13

Happy Friday!! We are going to be busy bees this weekend. We are
moving! We are moving into a townhome for a few months while we wait
for our house to be built. Moving with a toddler is not anything that
I would wish for anyone!! Thankfully, we have a bunch of friends and
family coming to help us out this weekend.

So, I have to get to packing, but here are a few of my favorites from the past week!!

Google hangouts (hanging out with friends)

IMG_6734
My roomies from HLS got together for a Google hangout this week. It
was my first time using the hangout for so many people. It was a lot
of fun and good to see their faces – and meet Baxter! I am not sure
that Google hangout is the best way to have that many people chat
together. You couldn’t adjust the size of each person and we were
getting some feedback which made it hard to hear sometimes. Any
suggestions for a better way? I have never tried Skype, but have heard
good things about it.

Nectar sunglasses
A while ago, I got a scratch in my favorite pair of sunglasses, so I have been on the lookout for a new pair. I found this company thru twitter and they were kind enough to send me 2 pairs of sunglasses to check out.

IMG_5841

One pair is the “Apollo” aviators – and they are my go-to driving and hanging out sunglasses. The other pair is black “swag”  – and they are my new running sunglasses.

IMG_6624

They stay put and don’t slide down my face when it gets hot and sweaty!

Peanut butter m and m’s

IMG_6646
My little sister sent me a bag last weekend and they are gone already! Seriously, so good and too dangerous!! And random fact for you – blue is my favorite m and m color! Winking smile

Chia seeds
You guys know how much I love chia seeds – my favorite bars even have them! And I am a huge sucker for any products that have them – an extra dose of omega 3 –> yes!

IMG_6733

Anyway,  I won these Vega One chocolate almond bars in a giveaway thru Pink Runner a while ago. I hate protein bars and protein shakes. But I love these bars and they have chia seeds in them! They have been my on the go breakfast option for the past few weeks. No crazy protein powder after taste. And chocolate for breakfast – heck ya!

BODYPUMP

IMG_6738
And you all know that I LOVE bodypump, but it is totally one of my
favorites this week. I taught one of my favorite releases – 84! And my
evening class is growing – so nice to see the room full of people
ready to do bodypump and then in 6 weeks to see how they have changed
and improved!! Love it.

Like Twice (<—FYI referral link!)

IMG_6740
Have you guys heard of this site? It is basically on online consignment shop. You request a bag from them. They sent you a pre-paid bag that you stuff full of clothes and send back to them free of charge. They have a great list of brands that they accept. And then they email you an offer. If you want any of your clothes back that they don’t accept, you pay $5 to get them back, otherwise they will donate them to goodwill for you! And it is an awesome site to do some shopping on as well. . .

Alright, now I really have to get back to packing! Hope you have a
great weekend!! Up to anything exciting??
