Friday Favorites: 5/29/15

Whoa. The last Friday of May. Seriously? Where is the time going??

Looking forward to some fun activities this weekend – Cross Fit, Farmer’s Market, movie night, and some baking! And maybe if the unpacking gets done, some adult beverages on our new screened in porch! Smile

Here are the things that made me smile this week. . .

Nut thins

Have you guys had these? Blue Diamond sent me two boxes as part of their Tastemakers blogger program. And I was totally going to take some cute pictures, paired with yummy cheese. . .. and ummmm, the next thing I know, I was finishing off the second box. They have been the perfect crunchy evening snack lately.

So, if you have more willpower than I do, pair with some cheese. . . otherwise, straight out of the box is awesomesauce too. Winking smile

this sign from my gym that I shared on Instagram this week. #truth

this cartoon.

My sister sent it to me after my blog post last week. Perfect, right?

View from our new dining room window.

I just love the woods behind our house. We see deer and wild turkeys every day. And I saw a doe and fawn last week. Adorable.

Luke swimming in the cold lake.

When we were at the Lake last weekend, Luke really really wanted to go swimming, but didn’t realize the lake was freezing. He basically clung to Aunt Laura for dear life. Hilarious.

Birthday cake. Oh ya. Those pink roses = so good!

stitch fix. yup, this is happening. hoping for some new jeans!

Laura and I are going to be starting a 24 day challenge with AdvoCare on June 8th – done in time for the Fourth of July! If you want to join in or more details, shoot me an email.

TYT#17 – Shopping!

Shhhhh don’t tell my husband. I’ve been shopping. Winking smile

A new shirt from Reebok. Double score because it’s also a Les Mills tank.

IMG_3416 - Copy

New shoes for teaching BODYPUMP from Asics. At first I thought they were too pink, but then I remembered there is no such thing as too much pink! Winking smile

IMG_3459 - CopyIMG_3460 - Copy

And they have the cutest pink ribbon laces!!

My new favorite black leggings. OMG you guys. These salar leggings from Fabletics are literally my new favorite. I have been wearing them all-the-time. They look amazing. Super comfortable. And totally flattering. btw – it is super tough to take a good pic of black leggings. . . just trust me that my husband has been checking out my butt A LOT in these pants. . . Winking smile

IMG_3479 - CopyIMG_3494 - Copy

New boots. The search is finally over. I had been looking for brown boots for literally the past 3+ years. I was super picky. They had to be the right shade of light brown, have a buckle detail and a zipper in the back. And be able to fit my athletic bodypump calves. Winking smile These Steve Madden boots are perfection.

IMG_3495 - CopyIMG_3496 - Copy

Lulu pink shorts. Another thing that has been on my “I want” list for-ev-er – a cute pair of PINK! lulu running shorts. I was browsing at Lulu last weekend and found this pair. Love love love love love them. Smile

And for my husband’s sake, that is all. Smile

Have you been shopping lately??

TYT #13 – Lulu + Athleta + Fabletics

So, remember a few weeks ago when we went to the Mall of America and I totally teased you with these pics on instagram? And on Friday with my Fabletics package?

And now, I’ve totally been holding out on you with what I ended up getting. I’m sorry. Please forgive me?  Smile

Here’s the goods. . .

Crystal Chaturanga™ Tight –> in polka dots. adorable. And bonus – they are reversible!! I actually haven’t had a chance to wear them yet. . . the weather has been too nice! But pretty sure MN is going to change that asap with snow in the forecast! <—btw – wtf?

Colorblock Chi Tank. Love the 2 colors of this tank.

Perfect for running.

And teaching BP. . . and supervising hand washing.

Cool Raceback from Lululemon – in hyper stripe mauvelous heathered black

Another staple – I already have 2 of these tanks. Great long length, comfy, and flattering. And of course I love the slight hint of pink in the stripes.

And my most favorite thing – these lima capris from Fabletics.

Love doesn’t even begin to describe them! I wore them for a run to try them out. Perfection. Didn’t move once. I wore them to bodypump in the park the next day. Again, didn’t move at all, plus I got compliments on them in class. Score.

Total keepers and I probably need to get another pair!

So, I didn’t break the bank. But got 4 pieces that I know will be some of my favorite workout pieces.

And love love love that both stores have a fitness instructor discount. FTW. Smile

Have you purchased any good fitness gear lately?

Oh, and if you like to buy gear from Reebok – check out this Groupon right now –> $25 for $50 Towards All Merchandise from (Thanks to Annette for letting me know about it!

Rese Activewear {giveaway}

Have you guys heard of Rese Activewear?

I hadn’t either until I saw Caroline post about it a few weeks ago.

And then I did some looking around their website and they have some pretty cute stuff.

And they were nice enough to send me two pieces to check out for myself.

As you guys know, teaching BODYPUMP and running, I am always in need of good quality workout gear.

And Rese did not disappoint.

They sent me the Power Natalie capris in black. . .

My favorite part of these capris is the mesh stripe down the side.

That totally takes them from just plain black to a little something extra, but not too flashy. It also helps provide a little bit more breathability while working out. The fabric is breathable and on the thinner side. .. no worries – not see thru (I checked!), but not like lululemon capris where you have to shimmy into them because they are so tight and thick. They are super comfy. I can see these for lounging and running errands as well as working out and chasing Luke around.

I taught BODYPUMP in them last week and they stayed put the. entire. time. Literally, I didn’t have to adjust them once. I think that is a first for me with workout capris.

And also the Jane tank in watermelon.

This is one of my new favs for running. It says put, doesn’t ride up throughout a long run. The back is super cute with the black mesh detail. The bottom hem is a little flared so is figure flattering.

And one more thing I love – the pieces are decent. $74 for the capris and $32 for the tank.

The fits are a little big, so if ordering, I would order down a size from normal.

Because of that, I have an extra pair of the Power Natalie carpis, black, size large, to giveaway to one lucky R4C reader.

Awesome, right?

There are 4 ways to enter. Please make sure to leave a separate comment below for each entry.

1 –> leave a comment below telling me what activity you would be most excited to do in these capris.

2 –> Follow Rese and Running4Cupcakes on Pinterest.

3 –> Follow Rese and Running4Cupcakes on Facebook.

4 –> Tweet the following with a link back to this post:
I want to win a pair of capris from @reseactivewear and @runs4cupcakes *insert link*

The contest closes at midnight on October 14th and I’ll announce the winner shortly after. If I don’t hear from the winner within 48 hours, I’ll pick someone new.

Good luck!

Fall Clothing Wish List

Cooler temps have me dreaming of some new things for my closet. . .

Skinny jeans – Would you believe I don’t have a pair? I really didn’t think I could pull them off until I got a pair in my most recent Stitch Fix box. . . unfortunately, those didn’t fix exactly right (which skinny jeans really really need to), so I am on the look out for  a pair. Any suggestions on where to look? I really like these from Banana. . .

Dark-Wash Skinny Jean

Boots – I have been drooling over Frye boots for at least the past 3 years but have never pulled the trigger. .  . this might be the year. Winking smile

Scarf – I think scarfs are the perfect fall accessory . . . and there is always room in your closet for another one, right?

Dot Print Scarf

Running leggings – like these ones (Salar legging) from Fabletics.

And the top that comes with it is pretty cute too. . .

Now if only I had an unlimited budget to buy everything. . . . Winking smile

What’s on your fall wish list?

Also, I am linking up with Becky for Treat Yourself Tuesday!

TYT #12 – Athleta Love

So, the newest Athleta catalog just arrived in my mailbox this weekend and I am drooling. . .

I don’t have anything Athleta in my closet. . . yet. . . but based on this catalog, that will have to change asap.

Hidden agenda tank. Love love love the back of this tank.

Colorblock Chi Tank. Love the 2 colors of this tank. Simple tank with a twist.

Crystal Chaturanga™ Tight –> in polka dots. adorable.

Rev Up Stripe Tank. Simple. Classic. Cute stripes.

Odyssey Infinity Scarf. Doesn’t this look perfect addition to your closet? I am pretty sure I would live in this over the winter in MN.

And no, I don’t have any affiliation with Athleta and I’m not getting anything for writing this post, I just really loved the latest catalog and wanted to share. Smile And maybe, my husband will take the hint and pick out something pretty for me. . . a girl can dream, right?

PS: I hear they have a similar program to Lululemon. . . if you are an aerobics instructor, you can bring in your certification and get a discount.

Totally linking up with Becky for Treat Yourself Tuesday. Smile

Friday Favorites: 8/8/14

Hey! Happy Friday. Smile

After I publish this post, I am on my way to the airport! I’m headed to Dallas, TX for AdvoCare Success School. Becky and I are meeting up at the airport in Dallas at noon and I could. not. be. more. excited. There is also a rumor that this girl will be there on Saturday, so I am super excited!

Anyway, I’ll be back on Monday with details of the weekend, but here are my Friday Favorites for ya!

**Teaching early morning BODYPUMP.

I was subbing for Chris this week and while it is SO painful to get up at 4:40AM, I feel amazing when I am done teaching class at 6:30AM. I get to watch the sunrise AND start my day with BODYPUMP!

**Tuesday night dinner date with Scott.

We don’t do this nearly enough, so it is a special treat to get a babysitter and have a quiet dinner on a weeknight. + those onion rings = amazing.

**My new favorite shirt.

I was totally on the fence about keeping this shirt, but Becky’s comment on my post telling me that I was basically a dumb bunny if I didn’t keep it, helped me make the right decision. Winking smile And now it is my go-to shirt. Over leggings on the weekend, dressed up with nice pants and a necklace for work. Love it.

**This lunch.

Toasted Ezekiel bread with TJs salted almond butter and strawberry jelly. Simple. classic. delicious.

Your turn. What made you smile this week? And what are you up to this weekend??

Spreading the link love by linking up with Heather and Claire again this week.

Banana Republic Treat Yourself

So.  .. Banana was having a sale. 40%. I know, right?

Of course, I had to get a few things. . .

But, now that they are here, I’m just not sure.

So, I coerced my husband into taking some pics of the things I bought, to get your opinion on it.

Help me decide what to keep!!

Top #1 –black polka dot

Top #2 – striped sweater. . does the asymmetrical front and back look weird?

Top #3 – pink lace – too old lady?

Top #4: Denim – too country?

Top #5: White flow-y top. Too big? Or good for over leggings this summer?

I am looking for a few new tops for work, summer and I have an upcoming trip to Texas in a month!

Thanks for your help!! And thanks to Becky for hosting TYT link up!!

TYT #10–shopping in Chicago!

When I was in Chicago a few weekends ago with my blends, we did some shopping.  . .

With building a new house – expensive! – I hadn’t been shopping in months. And I was in need of a few things. . .

First stop: Lulu –> new running shorts and a new pink running top.

Next – Banana –> 2 new tops – for work.

ScreenHunter_160 Apr. 06 17.22

And a total splurge was this scarf.

I saw it at the store, it was right by the cash register, but I wasn’t sold. Thankfully, Becky bought one and immediately put it on during lunch. And it was so cute! So, I tried hers on, and then dragged the ladies back to Lulu so I could get my own!

It is totally my new favorite thing. Smile

What was your most recent splurge?
