Friday Favorites: Bumpin’ in Charleston

Hey hey – Happy Fri- YAY!

I have to work all weekend long but that’s totally ok, because Scott and I just got back from a long weekend in Charleston, South Carolina. I was there for a medical conference and Scott tagged along. My Mom came and watched Luke and they had so. much. fun. And Scott and I enjoyed extra sleep, good food and quality conversation and time together. It was perfect. I think I took a total of 3 pictures. . .

Tour of Fort Sumter.

34 weeks.

Checking out the harbor and watching the dolphins swim.

Food highlights include Lewis BBQ {get the brisket}, King Street Cookies {two words – s’mores cookie}, Old Village Post House {delicious steak}, Another Broken Egg {get the biscuit beignets}, 82 Queen {brunch!}.

And I can’t believe I never shared any Halloween pictures. ..

And doesn’t Halloween seem like forever ago already??

And how is Thanksgiving next week?? This pregnant lady is SO excited for Thanksgiving dinner. I’m most excited for mashed potatoes and gravy. . . and pie. . . and Jennie-O sent me another turkey to make for Thanksgiving this year.

We made it last year and it was SO good. Juicy and delicious.

And SO easy to make!

Other life stuff. . .

I just finished this book and I can’t recommend it enough. SO good!

Trying to find a diaper bag..  . I think this one might be a winner.. .

Every night in our house. Candles forever.

I totally went out of my comfort zone with grey nails. And I love them!

And this latest package from Krusteaz makes me SO excited for Holiday baking!! This baby better stay in until I have a chance to get some baking done! Winking smile

I know Luke and I are going to have some fun with these decorating edible frosting pens!

And I’m still teaching BODYPUMP twice per week and loving it. Fingers crossed that I continue to feel good and can keep teaching until the end! I picked up  these old navy maternity workout pants a few weeks ago. love the subtle design and they are super comfy.

Holiday Cookies with Krusteaz {+giveaway}

Anyone else super behind on their holiday baking? I cannot believe that Christmas is NEXT WEEK? What the why??

Thankfully, I have a cookie baking date with my sister, Laura, for this weekend. We will make the family favorites – sugar cookies, star cookies, and hopefully a few new ones to try.

From our last BIG baking day. . . in 2012!

Oh and we can’t forget Christmas “crack”

And RPSs (Rolo Pretzel Sandwiches)

I am so thankful to be participating in Krusteaz’s Holiday Cookie blogger program this year too.

I know you guys have heard me talk about my love for Krusteaz cookie mixes before. . . LOVE them. Seriously. They are SO easy to make (stick of butter + an egg), Luke loves to help, and they taste delicious.

I’m also planning on using the butter vanilla sugar mix to make a Holiday inspired version of my sugar cookie bars.

I am thinking sprinkles + red frosting. Smile I’ll let you know how it turns out on Monday!

Weekending Post

Better late than never, right?

As you can imagine, life is different right now.

We are all trying to find our new normal and it is tough.

We had a memorial service for Dad on Saturday. And it was perfect. My sisters and I put together the service on our own and while it just didn’t seem real (and it still doesn’t), it was exactly what Dad would have wanted. And so wonderful to see so many friends and family and to feel their love and support.

We also had a super easy Thanksgiving dinner – thanks to Jennie-O turkey for sending me the easiest turkey to make ever. Literally, open the freezer bag, cut a few holes in the plastic baking bag, put in oven, and cook. Carve and enjoy.

And trampoline time with Aunt Laura.

And when my heart hurts so much that I am not sure what to do, I am so thankful for this little boy and his hugs and smiles.

And enjoying some family time by decorating for Christmas at the new house.

And I don’t think there is anything better than warm flannel sheets in the winter.

And a snowy 5 mile run that I know my Dad would have loved.

And I can’t keep this to myself –> First ever event from AdvoCareHoliday Sale! If you are on the fence about trying spark or any products – now is the time! If you order the full 24 day challenge, you can save $22! You better believe I am stocking up on spark ($7 off!!)! Here is the link to order or email me with questions.

International Chocolate Day –Balance Bar Giveaway

Happy International Chocolate Day!

Full disclosure. . . I had no idea today was International Chocolate Day. Winking smile

Thankfully, Balance Bar keeps me in the loop.

And offered to help me choose a healthier option to celebrate the day with the protein-packed Chocolate Mint Cookie Crunch Balance Bars.

I mean, you guys know how much I love Balance Bars. . . My favorite way to eat them is for a quick breakfast on the go. I know I am getting a good dose of protein and their 40/30/30 formula (40% of total calories from carbs, 30% from quality protein and 30% from dietary fat) makes it a good way to start the day – PLUS getting to eat chocolate for breakfast. Win. Win. Smile

To be 100% honest, if I am going to celebrate today, I will probably do it with my favorite way to eat chocolate – either in cupcake, ice cream or cookie form. Winking smile

Friday Favorites: Off to MN

Happy Friday!

We are headed to Minnesota this weekend after work today for some family time and a little bit of work. . .

Before I finish packing and head off to work, I wanted to pop in to share my favorites from this week with you – just the little things that made me smile. Smile

Amazing meals. From Blue Apron. These pictures don’t do them justice. The chicken burgers on the right – SO good! Full review coming next week!

Little boy haircuts. He always looks so grown up afterwards. And his little mohawk – or “dinosaur tail” as he calls it – kills me.

Abby cuteness. And the view from our living room windows.

Chobani flips. YUM. The perfect little after-dinner snack.

Your turn! Favorites from the week? Plans for the weekend?

Cookie time with Krusteaz {+giveaway}

This weekend at the Lake, Luke and I got busy in the kitchen thanks to Krusteaz. They were nice enough to send me some of their new cookie mixes.

And OMG. So easy and so good. And perfect for my little helper in the kitchen.

Luke is at this super fun age (3 1/2) where he wants to help and he is starting to be able to really help with mixing and measuring without making a huge mess. . . I mean, we still make a mess, but at least both of us don’t need to shower after a batch of cookies. . .

So, we picked out two flavors to try – triple chocolate chunk and brown sugar oatmeal. Spoiler alert – both delicious.

All you do is add a stick of softened butter and an egg to the mix. Mix all together. And bake.

It took Luke and I about 15 minutes to get the mixes all put together. *If I was working alone, it would probably be about 5 minutes.

And eat.

And then Luke loved serving them to everyone waiting on the porch.

Thanks Krusteaz for a fun family activity and yummy cookies. Smile

And now one lucky R4C reader will win a Krusteaz Back to School prize pack containing cookie mixes, an apron, oven mitt, and a lunchbox!

Pretty awesome, right?

Friday Favorites: smiles

Happy Friday!!

This was my first week back to work after having surgery, but thankfully it went well and the week seemed to fly by. . . now just to get through today and then on to the weekend. We don’t have any big plans – other than a 4 year old birthday party (her Mom makes the best cake!) and a trip to the Minnesota State Fair on Monday!!

Here are the things that helped me smile this week. . .

1. spark. Monday morning was t.o.u.g.h. but thankfully after I mixed up my spark, I felt ready to take on the day! #success

btw – next big group challenge is staring on September 8th, if you are interested in joining in, just let me know! Smile

2. bath time. love.

3. national dog day. cuteness.

4. rocksbox. loved this necklace from my latest box.

Unfortunately it was a little more than I would typically spend, but I had fun wearing it at work. Excited to see what comes in my next box. . . don’t forget to use the code running4cupcakesxoxo to get a month FREE.

5. Snack time.

So, I don’t know why I haven’t tried these almonds before. They are amazing. Super glad Influenster sent them to me to try out. They might be my new favorite afternoon snack.

6. Making energy balls with my favorite chef.

Cheers to a great weekend!! What are you up to??
