Living Life!

Happy Friday. Smile

I am pumped up o endorphins from teaching PUMP/CX this morning at the YMCA! And I have the day off work. And we are busy packing up to head to the Lake for the weekend. It’s a good day!

I didn’t mean to disappear for the last month. . . as you can imagine, two kids + full time job + summer running + teaching BODYPUMP + life = busy!!

And honestly, it’s been the same things over here. . .

Jake is getting bigger. 6 months old already!

I’m still teaching BODYPUMP and CXWORX twice per week at the YMCA.

Summer trips to the Lake.

Family runs. We bought another BOB running stroller. .. Scott pushes Jake and I push our 50 pound 5 year old. *We are working on Luke riding his bike with us instead of riding in the stroller!

Scott and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary!

Luke is still an amazing big brother.

And Abby’s a pretty good big sister. Winking smile

So, if you need me, you know where you can find me. Smile

Have a great weekend!!

Weekend Update–one of my worst nightmares. . .

Happy Monday!

I have the day off today. Both boys are sleeping. Luke is still asleep and Jake was up at 6am, ate some food, played and now is down for a nap.

So, I thought I’d take a few minutes to check in!

We didn’t have very many plans this weekend, which was super nice. . .

Both Scott and I got a chance to sleep in – I took Saturday and he took Sunday. It was glorious!

Otherwise, we hung out,

I did some BODYPUMP on Saturday – checked out BP101!

I did some meal planning and placed my order on HyVee’s online grocery service. . .

On Saturday night we went to dinner with Scott’s family to celebrate his birthday.

Sunday morning was my worst nightmare. . . ok, it wasn’t that bad but oh man, 6,000 beads on the floor = not fun.

Jake fell asleep in Scott’s arms at lunch.

We checked out the local Home Show.

After the Home Show, I got an email saying that my order from the grocery store was ready, so we stopped by to pick it up on our way home. This was my first time checking it out and man, it wasn’t as awesome as I was hoping. So, you pull in to a spot by the front of the store, call the number and tell them you are there to pick up your order. The lady said ok, they’ll be right out. So, poor Jake hates his car seat and is screaming his little head off .. . . but she said they will be right out, so I just chill and know that we will be on our way home shortly. Well, 10 looooong minutes later, nothing. So, I call again. And she tells me that there are 4 people ahead of me and it will be a while longer. WTF? I am pretty sure I was the only one there when I first pulled in. Thankfully, I think she heard Jake screaming, and promised to come as quick as possible. So, I ended up pulling Jake out of his car seat and feeing him while we waited for another 10 minutes. So, will I do it again? I’ll probably try it again, because it was less annoying than actually going to the grocery store, but I will know ahead of time that I might have to wait for a while and to try to not have a screaming, hungry baby with me! <—sorry for the semi-rant. . . just wanted to share my experience for any other locals!

Back at home, Luke and I made banana bread.

We went on a family run. 60 degrees!

We finished the evening with watching basketball and eating leftovers for dinner. #adulting Winking smile

Off to get Luke some breakfast before taking him to school. Jake and I have a bunch of errands to run this morning – yeah for Target! #itsthelittlethings

Hope you had a great weekend! Highlight??

Friday Favorites–2 months + sunshine

Happy Friday! It has been a crazy weather week here in MN. 66 degrees on Tuesday and 20 degrees and snowing right now. . . we are supposed to get 10+ inches!

Jake and I have been enjoying the last few weeks of my maternity leave together.

This is my current favorite photo.

2 months old!

First stroller ride outside in the sunshine!

Family run.

And this photo from Luke’s school Valentine’s Day. Adorable, right?!

And I could not resist when an adorable girl scout stopped by the house this week to sell cookies. I’m most excited about the s’mores cookies!

It’s going to be a low key weekend around here. . .  Dinner with friends tomorrow night. I’m making this amazing Chipotle corn dip that my friend, Leah, made when she brought dinner shortly after Jake was born. I’ve made it three times already because it is SO good. I’ll be sure to snap some pics to share the recipe with you next week! Otherwise, planning for some play time in the snow and baking something yummy – any suggestions? I am thinking cookies. Maybe these??

What are you up to this weekend? Favorite thing from the week??

Postpartum fitness update

Postpartum fitness is tough.

If there was one piece of advice I could give any new Mom about postpartum fitness, it would be to have patience, because it will get better and easier, you just have to give it time.

Now, if are you came to this blog post to see some crazy before and after pictures, sorry, you won’t find any here. I didn’t take any.

Also, each person’s postpartum fitness journey is unique. I am sharing my own personal experience, which should not replace your doctor’s advice and recommendations.

That being said, with both Luke and Jake, it was important for me to start exercising as soon as I felt ready, and thankfully, my doctor agreed and encouraged me to start as soon as I felt I was ready.  In my case, that meant starting with walking at about a week postpartum. I started slow and then slowly increased my speed over the course of the next week. By two weeks postpartum, I felt ready to start running. Slowly. And for short distances. I started with a run/walk and then slowly increased from there. I also wore a maternity support band to help support my core.

Over the past 6 weeks (I’m 8 weeks postpartum), I’ve increased my mileage and speed. I am back to pre-baby standard miles for me (about 20 per week), but still working on getting my speed back. Again, time and patience.. . I’ve been mindful of my body, if something hurts or didn’t feel right, I’d slow down, decrease miles for the day, or just stop and try again tomorrow.

I’ve done that same process for BODYPUMP and CXWORX. Thankfully, I have a bar, weights and a band at home. So, I started BODYPUMP with a light bar and doing a few tracks at a time. And slowly increased the numbers of tracks and then increased my weight. I’m still working back up to my pre-baby and pre-pregnancy weights. . . man, it is amazing how quickly you lose your strength!

And then last to return was core work. I waited the full six weeks before doing core work. I tried a few times between 4-6 weeks, but it just didn’t feel great, so I waited for my incision to heal further and then tried again. Now, no strange twinges and it is strange to do hovers without a huge belly pulling me down. Winking smile

32 weeks_1

I started teaching again this week. BODYPUMP this week and then CXWORX next week. That’s just how it worked out with the schedule. I probably could have gone back to pump a few weeks ago, but in addition to making fitness a priority, sleep and baby snuggles are also a priority!

And now since the baby is sleeping, I’m going to go jump on the treadmill for a few miles. . . the fitness journey continues. . . Smile

Friday Favorites–Twizzlers and Treadmill

Time is just flying by. . . but life is good. Smile

Looking forward to another low key weekend around here. The benefit to having a newborn in the winter is that you can stay home and snuggle and not miss out on anything. . .  or at least that is what I am telling myself!

Here are some of my recent favorites. . .

This mug that I got my sister for Christmas. . . and yes “aisle” is spelled wrong. Thankfully the lady that I ordered it from on Etsy sent me a new one. But #truth, right?!

Movie date.

The fact that he calls Twizzlers “radishes” for some reason just makes me laugh.

Playing in the snow.

How is my boy old enough for chapter books?? I have heard good things about the Magic Tree House books, any other suggestions for a almost 5 year old??

Treadmill for the win during baby and puppy nap time.

Having extra time with Luke in the mornings to play with him at school.

6 weeks old. SO big!

Valentine’s Day decorations. It’s no secret that pink is my favorite color so it’s totally my favorite holiday to decorate for. . . my favorite is the hurricane glass filled with candy hearts! So simple and so cute!!

Alright I’m off to kick off the weekend with coffee Friday (#necessary) and baby snuggles. #momlife

Hope you have a great one! Any plans? Favorites from the week?

I haven’t posted anything about Abby in a while. . . she is doing good! You can usually find her in “her spot” on the couch. Smile

Sunday morning started with a quick run and BODYPUMP 100. I am in love with the triceps, biceps and lunge tracks. I cannot wait to get back to teaching to teach it!

Followed by track building. #lifeofamom

Hey! Happy Monday!!

Nothing super exciting happened this weekend, but I actually took pictures to share a snapshot of current life. . .

Friday Fri-YAY

Happy Friday!!! I am headed into a three day weekend, so I’m pretty excited. . . I also have lots of endorphins flowing right now after teaching BODYPUMP this morning – 84 . . . one of my all time favorites (the release I did my training on!).

I’m looking forward to getting some projects done around the house, hitting up the Farmer’s Market and going to a local meat market, finally getting my hair cut today, date night with Scott on Saturday and celebrating a delayed Father’s Day with Scott and Luke on Sunday!

Here are a few of the things I’ve been loving this week. . .

This wreath that Laura and I made last weekend.

I had so much fun wandering around Michael’s with Laura and planning our wreaths out. . . and it makes me smile every time I drive up to the house now. On tap for the weekend: to replace that ugly light fixture!

Hot summer sunshine runs. The weather has been gorgeous this week. High 70s and sunshine. Perfect running weather!

Impulse buy at the grocery store. These are like crack they are SO good.

Family ice cream date.

What about you – what have you been loving this weekend?

And plans for the weekend? Favorites from the week?

Looking for my linkup? I’ve decided to take a break from Friday link ups, but I’m still going to link up Friday fun with Heather!
