Coffee Date–October 2015

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you. . .

*That my Dad is doing pretty good. We had a pretty big scare in July where he had a fungal infection that took the sight in his left eye but thankfully, if didn’t extend to his right eye or his brain. He’s been home for the past month working on recovery. He has to clear this fungal infection completely and get stronger to be considered for a bone marrow transplant that will hopefully cure the leukemia. While he is still having some bad days, most days are good and we are hopeful that transplant will be happening soon.

*that life has been c.r.a.z.y. like whoa.

As you may remember, I moved to Wisconsin in February for a new job. And the plan was for Scott to move a few months later. . . well, that didn’t happen.

Scott was offered a big promotion at his job – something he’s been working towards for the past 8 years – and well, we decided that he just couldn’t down this amazing opportunity.

So, we changed plans again. I looked for a new job back in Minnesota. And thankfully, found one that I am super excited about.. . I’m still going to be working for Mayo Health System, but switching from practicing traditional family medicine to urgent care.

So, I’ve officially quit my job in Wisconsin and accepted this new position in Minnesota. But transitioning for physicians is a slow process, and I won’t be starting in my new job until later this month.

*I’m the most sad about leaving my sisters and not being within a 15 minute drive of their house. It has been so wonderful having Luke spend extra time with his aunts and I seriously almost start crying when I think about taking him away from that.

*And we bought (another) house. Unfortunately, we figured out all the job stuff AFTER we sold our Minnesota house . . . that we just build last year. sadness. But, thankfully, we found another house and closed on that a few weeks ago. It’s a smaller/older home than what we’ve had in the past, but I think it will be a good home for our family for a few years.

Scott is busy working on some updates after work each night. BTW – he is amazing.

The projects that he can take on and do around the house are astonishing. I am so lucky to have him (for more than just his home improvement skills. Winking smile)

*Our current house in Wisconsin is on the market. Fingers crossed it sells quickly.

*We found a new school for Luke that I am hoping he loves. I am sad that we have to transition him from another town/school/house but thankfully, he seems to be so easy going and as long as we are together as a family, he goes with the flow.

*Oh and did I tell you that Luke is finally potty trained. Hallelujah. I’ve tried a few times over the past year or so and he never seemed very interested and so I didn’t push it. Finally, when I was on leave for my surgery, I decided that enough was enough and I didn’t want to buy diapers anymore (geez those things are spendy!). And thankfully, he was ready. Still working on nighttime to be 100% but all things considered with our crazy life right now, I’m calling it a win. Smile

*I am so thankful for our supportive families and the fact that I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason. So, while the past few months haven’t been the most ideal, that’s ok, it’s called life and it’s supposed to be crazy sometimes, right?

Anyway. . . now that I’ve been talking for-ev-er, what’s new with you?

Linking up with Amanda today for Thinking Out Loud!
