Another day. .. another venti non-fat caramel macchiato. Random thought for the day: I really like when coffee places have the little stir stick that covers the hole in the lid. It prevents spilling and keeps my latte hot on my way to wherever I am going. . . I wish they had those in MN. It’s the little things, right?
My vacation book: Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. I am only about 50 pages in, but so far it is holding my interest! Anyone read it?
I got to read a few pages on the beach yesterday while someone took his afternoon nap.
Before the beach, had to snap a few pictures of him in his swim suit (*Thanks Amanda!) and of course, checking himself out in the mirror.
After Luke woke up from his nap, we played on the beach a little bit. Today, he really didn’t want to crawl around. He was content to be held and chew on a shell.
And then we went to the pool. . . and Luke loved it! Especially playing with a noodle.
After pool time, we changed and headed out for our run.
We drove to Capri Island, which is a small island next to Marco Island. And man, it is HOT in Florida! We were both dripping after our 5 mile run.
Showers for everyone. . . then dinner!
The only place that I heard about before we came down to Marco Island was eating at Snook Inn. So, last night we headed there for dinner. And it was busy! 45 minute wait on a Wednesday night. But worth it. Awesome salad bar with fresh bread. And I tried something new – stone crabs.
I like regular crab legs, so when I saw these on the menu, I knew I had to try them! A couple things surprised me. 1. they are served cold 2. they are served with a spicy mayo not butter 3. the shells are very very hard and difficult to crack! I think regular crab legs are sweeter than these but because of my darn cold, my taste buds are slightly off, so I can’t be sure!
And key lime pie for dessert – delicious! ![]()

Of course Luke would love the pool but be cautious about the ocean! He’s probably heard about Aunt Laura’s jellyfish experience and Aunt Jenny’s anti-shark crusade. What a smart kid.
