Friday Favorites: 1/10/14

Heeeeeeeeeey! Happy Friday. Am I right? After having a bunch of short weeks with the Holidays, this week took fooooooorever—> also Luke was going through a tough time (see below) so that doesn’t help either! Super excited about this weekend. Catching up on sleep, baking some banana bread and teaching bodypump on Sunday morning at the YMCA (11am for any locals!!).

Here are my favorites from this week. . . enjoy and feel free to link up with any variation of Friday happiness you want!!

We are headed to Maui in February! I am so excited about it now because this week has been COLD in MN. Like –15 is the high for the day kind of cold. Have you ever been? Any suggestions??

This Braun Forehead Thermometer

ScreenHunter_151 Jan. 09 19.20

This week, Luke has been teething something fierce. Crying, drooling, not sleeping, fussy over nothing, and pretty much just miserable. Whenever Luke is teething, I am always concerned that I am not missing something more. .. so I am constantly checking his temperature. I haven’t had any luck finding a good children’s thermometer.

Thank goodness, Luke hasn’t been sick too much, but when he is, it has been a total pain to try to take his temp. Parents, you know what I am talking about. You either have a sleeping child or one that is crying on your shoulder, and then to try to get that thermometer behind their ear and hold it there until it beeps, ya, right. Next to impossible.

This thermometer is the bomb. Just a quick swipe on the forehead. and done. And it has color settings – green, yellow and red. Perfect at 2am when you are trying to figure out how worried you need to be about your little one.

And our old thermometer was NOT baby proof. This one is! I was on the phone with tech support one Friday while Luke and I were home together and in the middle of the phone call, I look over and Luke is sitting on the floor (quietly), having taken it off the kitchen table, pushing all the buttons, saying beep beep, putting the cover on and off, etc. Normally, I wouldn’t have let him play with it, but when you are on the phone. . . you know how that goes. . . well 10 minutes later, I still had a quiet child and an intact thermometer. 2 thumbs up. Smile

Bonus points because he loves to take his temperature and Dad’s temperature.

**I received the Braun Forehead thermometer complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster. BUT as usual, all opinions are my own and I 100% love this thermometer.

New photos on my bulletin board at work. From Christmas and Cocoa Beach!

  2. definitely been cold here. CA-RA-ZY cold. hope that’s all done for the year. yes, taking temps in kids is no joke. i just took both kids temps yesterday and they are finally at an age where it is possible.
my advice for Maui is go visit the 7 sacred pools and get there early in the day. and make the trek up the Hana highway. it made me a little nauseous cause it’s so twisty but definitely worth it.

  3. We made banana bread this week. Such a great comfort food for the cold 🙂

So glad to see a review of a thermometer that is easy and really works. We’ve tried a few with not great luck. I might have to find that one!

  9. aaahh, this breaks my heart! I’m so sorry Luke is feeling under the weather. I hear teething isn’t a fun phase – I’m not looking forward to that. 🙁
I’ll be investing into one of those thermometers though! Those are like the ones they used when we were in the hospital to have him! Very cool!

And Maui? Amazing! I’ve been to Hawaii once – it is truly paradise! Bring shoes to hike – it is a gorgeous place to explore!
