{heart} fall running

Gosh, I love this time of year.

Yes. Yes. And Yes. I love it all.

So, it should come as no surprise that it is also my favorite time of year to run.

I know, I know, didn’t I do a post confessing my love for summer running?

And how about that post for winter running love?

Yes, ok, I really do love all the seasons for running, which is why living in MN is so perfect for me. . .

BUT, I really do think that fall is my absolute favorite.

My only complaint is that it never seems to stick around long enough. . . before we know it there will be 2 feet of snow on the ground and we will be wishing for summer again. Winking smile

I love fall running because. . .

Ideal running temperatures –> the best weather for me to run in is 60
degrees. Not too hot, not too cold. Perfect for my favorite running
outfit shorts and long sleeve shirt.

The scenery is breathtaking. The changing colors, the falling leaves, the crunch of the leaves under your shoes. Running perfection.

After training in the hot summer heat, now is the time to get your race on. Scott and I did the Des Moines half marathon last year and we are doing it again this year (this weekend!!)!! I think the weather feels so good because after melting and sweating your face off all summer, the cool air feels so good and refreshing.

And in MN, we have to quickly enjoy it before we are trying to outrun frostbite.

Fall is the last season before I have to put the jogging stroller away for the winter. So, I get to savor those last few runs with Luke pointing at every truck, bus and car we pass before putting it away because of snow and ice and frigid cold. And Scott doesn’t run outside in the winter, so it is my last few runs with him too before he heads inside to the treadmill for the snow and cold months.

Do you love fall running? What’s your favorite part?

  2. I love fall running too! I hate cold weather, so I don’t run outside in the winter either. Colonial Williamsburg is so pretty in the fall, so I love seeing all the colors and enjoy not being drenched in sweat from the heat!

  3. I’m a huge fan of fall running. Shorts and long-sleeved tees are my favorite running outfit too! Also LOVE crockpot cooking. Have to check out that pork recipe. We just made chicken chili last weekend. YUM!

Hahaha! Ms. I love running in every season 😉 I do love fall running too – crunchy leaves, cool weather, no humidity! I just wish the days were longer for more running time 🙂

I know! I totally love running all the time. I’m sorta crazy, right? And I agree that I wish it didn’t get dark so early – that makes it hard to fit in a run after work these days. .. and it’s only going to get worse!! BTW – nice work taking BP after work and then spin this morning – you go girl. 😉

  6. Fall running does rock. I wish fall lasted longer, especially in Minnesota! But I do agree with you, running is fun in every season. Winter running along Lake Superior on the boardwalk in Canal Park is gorgeous. As long as there isn’t any wind!

  7. Seriously, fall is the BEST. And the Midwest is the BEST. Although, I am a baby sometimes when winter hits but I’ll still run outside after a bit of complaining. 🙂 Thanks for that recipe too–looks awesome!

Yes -the midwest is the best for the fall, but I totally agree about the winter. I complain quite a bit too. 😉

  8. I love everything about fall!!!! It is my ideal season for running. And the trees…. They are all red and yellow right now! Just perfection.

  9. I’m with you, sister. I love the Fall. Yesterday and today when I started my runs I was a bit chilly, but when I warmed up it was PERFECT. Fall is my favorite – I love the colors, the temps, the food, the clothes (yay for sweatshirts and jeans!), the holidays approaching, THE EVERYTHING!
    Luke is so cute 🙂

  10. Summer is my favorite season for running, but I absolutely adore the temperatures we get during Fall – I wish it would stick around longer, too!
And I didn’t realize you loved running in the Winter so much…what’s your secret?! I can hardly walk out there without losing the feeling in my feet 😉

I don’t think I have any “secrets” other than making sure you are dressed for the weather. I have a whole section in my closet that is my winter running clothes!

  11. I absolutely love fall running! The temp is my favorite part, for sure.

  12. Recently I’ve really been enjoying my runs, I think because everything is so pretty! I love seeing what leaves have changed from day to day, and my normal routes seem a little less crowded. I just wish the “fall” weather would last longer!
