New running gear

I’m sorry.

I have been holding out on you.

I have some new running gear that I have been loving lately, and I have been selfishly not sharing my recent finds with you.

When Becky and I went shopping at the Mall of America, I got 2 new tops at Lululemon. Both are awesome.

I was also lucky enough to get this top (Glycerin Print Support Tank II) from Brooks Running to check out, review, and #runhappy.

Of course I love it because of the pink in it. Smile But it also has a built in sports bra. . . which usually don’t work for me and I have to wear a normal sports bra anyway –> But with this top, it is well fitted and everything stays where it is supposed to without the extra sports bra. It has a cute pocket in the back for keys/cell phone/etc. I wore it for my long 9 mile run and it stayed put with no chaffing.

I am usually an Asics running shoe girl, but the latest model of Asics (gel nimbus 14) didn’t work for me, so I had to try something new. . . and I checked out Mizunos.

I love love love the colors! They are a really nice shoe. The only difference from Asics is that there is less cushion and support in the forefoot. But once I did a few runs in them, I got used to the less cushion and really like this shoe. I still love my Asics but love these Mizunos too!!

I had the opportunity to check out SKORA shoes.

Have you heard of this brand?

Based in Portland, Oregon, SKORA builds premium, lightweight performance running footwear that encourage a more bio-mechanically correct, natural stride. The distinctive look and feel of SKORA footwear is based on the function and benefit of a minimalist design philosophy we call Run Real.

I have always wanted to check out a pair of minimalist shoes, but wasn’t sure where to start. And the nice SKORA people sent me a The Base to check out.

First of all, they are super cool. They don’t have laces, but a Velcro cross –strap. They hug your feet and provide a great fit. I have done a few runs in them. I like them, however, I am not sure that the minimalist running shoe is for me. I think I personally need a little bit more support. . . but, I love them for teaching BODYPUMP and aerobics.

For me, I think they are a great cross-training shoe. But I would highly recommend checking these shoes out if you are interested in a minimalist shoe.

Lululemon running shorts. Groovy Run Short.

Scott gave me this pair for my 31st birthday when we were in Chicago. They are my go-to pair of running shorts lately. Light and perfect for summer. Nice thick waistband. Pocket in the back.

Ellie little black capri. Perfect for running, aerobics, BODYPUMP, or pedicures.

I have been wearing these capris everywhere. They stay put. Super flattering. And nice, comfy fabric.

What are some of your current favorite workout gear pieces??

**Disclaimer: I was given the Brooks running top, Skora shoes and Ellie capris for free, but as usual, all opinions are 100% my own.**

  3. Great gear! I’m not a huge tank top person but those look super comfy!

I swear by my Mizunos! I used to wear Asics all the time until I went to an actual running store and they said they were all wrong for me. I tried out the Mizunos and haven’t bought anything else since!

  8. So much new gear! I love new running stuff – I actually just ordered 2 new tops from Ellie’s October line. I need some more color in my life. I wish I could try the low support/minimalist shoes but my feet have issues with pain even with high support shoes so I’m scared to try. Where’d you get your Mizuno’s – that may need to be my next pair 🙂

I got my Mizunos at The Running Room – I have the best luck there in the cities. .. Which Ellie tops did you get???

  9. look at you all cute and stuff! : )

I have been thinking about getting some mizuno’s as well lately. Since I am not an avid runner I don’t use my running shoes as much as most. I’m currently using the Gel-Nimbus Asics and although I do love them I really want to try something different.

Thanks Heather. 😉 I would definitely recommend the mizunos – I really like them. And love the purple color. 🙂

  10. I love new running gear. It always helps my motivation!

  11. Even if lower profile shoes are not the right choice for a particular runner while running, they make a great strengthening tool to wear when doing drills, strength work, and classes.

I do most of my running in our more cushioned shoes, but wear the Phase without an insole for most of my non-running training 🙂

I totally agree!! I love them for teaching BODYPUMP or just running errands. 🙂 Thanks for the insight.

  12. OK, I’m kind of glad the closest Lululemon store is over an hour away. I’ve been hearing so many great things about Lulu that I would probably spend an entire paycheck if I stepped into the store!!

  13. I am in love with anything Lulu. The closest store used to be over an hour away, but they just opened one in a mall 20 minutes away and another mall 45 minutes away. Can you say good bye savings account? 🙂

  14. Great gear! 🙂
That Brook’s Tank looks like something that would work for me. I hadn’t thought about just using a bra in one of the tanks (I buy them without the bras in them), but that might be the perfect answer to my recent bra-chafing problem! recently posted..Happy Wednesday! My Profile

I don’t usually have good luck with tops that have bras in them, I usually have to wear a sports bra anyway, but this one is perfect!! And no chafing. 🙂

  15. I’m an asics girl too so that fact that you aren’t digging the new ones makes me think I need to go buy another pair of my current ones.

That’s how I felt too!! I was happy to have the opportunity to check them out. I will definitely use them for cross training.

  18. Loving your new gear! I have a problem with buying much too much gear haha. Luckily, I’ve been good & stayed out of the Lulu store here in DSM.

Do you get the Ellie subscription box? Just curious since I heard there were a lot of problems when they started.

Thanks Alex! I haven’t done the subscription box for Ellie yet – I have just ordered a few pieces here and there. I haven’t had any problems with it and their customer service is really good too.
