Day 2 in beautiful Florida!
*Does anyone else get that Nicki Minaj song Starships stuck in their head from the title of this post? We have been singing that song all week long whenever we talk about going to the beach.. .”Let’s go to the beach, each. Let’s go get away”
The day started with Starbucks. . . venti (it’s a really long conference morning!) nonfat caramel macchiato <—my drink of choice at Starbucks.
And a morning of lectures. Again, super hard to sit in a dark conference room when I know there is a beautiful beach literally steps away! This morning, we learned about office orthopedics (i.e. shoulder, knee problems – how to evaluate, exam and treat).
Afterwards, we headed to lunch at the Marco Island Brewery. We had 2 awesome meals. I had the fish tacos (light and fresh) and Scott had the “Rodeo” burger which had pepper jack cheese, chipotle mayo, and fried jalapenos (juicy, cooked perfectly and a good amount of spice). And Luke had puffs and strawberry apple puree.
After lunch, we wandered around a little bit. It was a gorgeous day – mid 70s and sunny.
His little baby shorts just kill me. . . so cute!
Then, it was nap time. I am still getting over my cold (crossing my fingers it is not turning into a sinus infection) and so while Luke napped, I did too. Luke napped longer – 3 hours! It is way different to be on a beach vacation with a baby <—naps totally get in the way of prime beach time!
Just had to throw these pictures in too – Luke hates putting his knees on cold floors (he does this at home in the kitchen too).. . and will get up on hands and toes and try to crawl that way over any cold floor. Such a silly monkey!
So, after nap time was over, we got dressed and went for a run. 3 miles today with a 1 mile walk. We didn’t even make it to the beach today. . . but planning on spending some time there tomorrow.
Dinner was another excellent meal at a local Mexican restaurant – Margaritas. We started with chips and salsa and a very strong (but delicious) margarita.
Scott got enchiladas and I got the chicken avocado salad. The salad actually had lots of huge slices of avocado so I was very happy because restaurants usually skimp on the avocado!
Dessert time: Cold Stone shakes!
And more Bachelor – two nights this week!
And a very sleepy baby. . .
Planning to get some beach time in today. . . and hopefully trying out the pool (warmer than the gulf!). Hope you are having a great week too.
