I am always interested in what other bloggers wear to run or workout. I have found some really good new clothes that way. Meals and Miles did a good post on running shorts –> which inspired me to check out Lululemon for running shorts and now they are my favorite pair and what I wear for 90% of my runs. Becky at Olives ‘n’ Wine did a nice post on what running gear she got in her most recent Ellie box. So, in the interest of spreading the love, here is my usual running gear!
Side note – I wear slightly different things to teach aerobics (i.e capris instead of shorts) than to go running and if there is interest, I can do a post on that. . .
First up: shorts. . . these are the Lululemon shorts that I just love! Comfortable, wide waistband, doesn’t ride up. Pockets!
The tank in the above picture is from Lululemon as well. . . I promise, I did not mean to be a lululemon commercial in this post. . . but it is probably the tank I wear most often to run. However, I am still searching for that “perfect” running tank. Any suggestions???
I have like 6 of these sports bras – Nike Pro with Dry Fit. They fit perfect and keep everything in place.
I love these socks by Thorlo. Thick padding in the toe box and heel. Comfy. And pink!
I tried a new running sock recently from Feetures! I was sent a pair of their Elite Ultralight socks to try out. These are different from my usual socks because they have no padding at all and is definitely a more performance-based sock.
From the Feetures! website and packaging. . .
Better fit. Better feel. Better run.
Sock- lock support system.
Anatomical right and left foot deign enhances fit to help eliminate blisters
Ultra thin construction takes up minimal room inside the shoe
The perfect toe (no irritating toe-seam)
iWick fibers wick moisture to keep feet dry and odor-free
The Power arch provides targeted support where it’s needed most
First impression – the color – PINK! It is a nice bright pink and I love it. I also love the bright blue toe. First thoughts after putting them on: they fit nice. They conformed to my foot and felt really light. I liked the front and back tabs at the top of the sock that helped to pull them on. I also liked the fact that they were marked R and L for a better fit. After a 5 mile run, no chaffing, no blisters, no sore areas. They didn’t move at all. And my feet didn’t seem very sweaty after I took them off.
A few negatives: if you don’t like minimalist socks, then you wouldn’t like this particular sock (ultra light no show tab – they do have other options with ‘light’ padding). It is really very light and there is no padding. Some people might like this and some probably wouldn’t. Also, they call out that they are a USA company, which they are – a family owned and operated in North Carolina – however, the socks are manufactured in Vietnam. Again, not a big deal for some people, but just wanted to let you know! And they try to be totally open about using global resources to ensure that they have the best materials, manufacturing and quality.
Overall I would give these socks a solid B. I really liked the color and the fit and they did really well on my test run!
I let the kind people at Feetures know that while I liked the Ultralight socks, they were a little too minimalist for my taste. So, they kindly sent me their light cushion socks to check out. I tried out the light cushion high performance and light cushion elite (below).
And I am in love. sock love that is. I have a new favorite pair of socks to wear running, but also just in general. Now, I am always skeptical about bloggers who do reviews of free products and gush about how awesome product x, y, or z is. . . and I will always promise to give you my 100% honest opinion here on Running4Cupcakes. . . so, when I say I am in sock love. it is the total. honest. truth.
These 2 pairs of light cushion are the 1st ones I pull out of the drawer now. And I will have to be honest, when I realize they are in the laundry because I wore them for the past 2 days already, I might be a little sad, and I went crazy when I thought Luke had “put” them away and I couldn’t find them. I have never had this issue with socks before. I mean I have a favorite pair of yoga pants, PJ bottoms, jeans, but a favorite pair of socks, really? really? Yup. Really. So, obviously I give the light cushion an A+. They stay in place during an hour of teaching body pump and a 5 mile run. And they keep up with me while chasing Luke around the house!
Almost immediately after putting on these socks, I had to send this tweet!
