I really like MN. For many reasons, but one of the best ones is the running in different seasons. It is so true in MN that if you don’t like the weather, just wait 5 minutes.
I wrote a post about how much I love winter running. And I do.
But I also love summer running. I know, I am totally crazy!!
I could do without the humidity, but I love getting super sweaty, runners tan lines, and the heat that summer brings. When else can you take an ice cold shower? Eat a whole watermelon? Or consider popsicles an appropriate lunch? Only after a long, hot, humid, sweat pouring summer run.
And I can’t be the only one that thinks baby sunscreen is one of the best smells.
And you all know how much I loath morning exercising, so there is no avoiding the heat for me in the summer. I run right after work in the hottest part of the day. But there is something in a hot afternoon run with sweat dripping in your eyes that makes the rest of the day disappear. . .
And of course, walking is totally acceptable and necessary in the heat. Or even a quick break in the shade.
And finally, I don’t think anything makes an adult beverage taste better than after a long, hot summer run. The salt on a margarita is totally necessary.
So, put on your sunglasses, sunscreen and get out there for a summer run. And enjoy!!
And don’t forget to cool off afterwards. . .
