Friday Favorites: new shoe love

Happy Friday! We made it! Smile

And how is it Easter weekend already? Craziness!! We are headed to the cities tomorrow to celebrate Easter with lunch with Scott’s family and dinner with my family! And then planning to have a low key Easter day back at home.

I’m super excited for the Easter bunny to come for Luke – he is going to L.O.V.E. his Easter basket! In our house, the Easter bunny hides the baskets – do you do that?? My Dad was the master at hiding baskets. Often times we would get up early and look before church but we wouldn’t find them until after church and with lots of clues! I wish I would have kept a list of all the crazy places he has put them.

I’ll let you know how it went on Monday!

And now a few of my favorites from the week. . .

new running shoes!!

I was super bummed because I didn’t love the newest version of my go-to running shoes, so I headed to the local running store (River Valley Running) and they were awesome and super helpful. He even encouraged me to try a pair of Nikes. . . which I have never run in Nike before.

And guess what? I loved them. I took them right home and ran 6 glorious miles in them. Love.

random work lunch from Panera. Their Mediterranean veggie is quite delicious (minus the red onions – don’t need those at work!). Smile

this birthday card I gave Scott. makes me lol.

playing with Luke in the rain.

splashing in puddles is the best.

and it always amazes me that he can be entertained for so long playing in the sink.

I think he sat there playing with a slow trickle of water for 30+ minutes.

Your favorites from the week??

Whatcha up to for Easter weekend??

Weekending. . .

How it is Tuesday already? I have a crazy busy week this week so here’s to things flying by!

But first a quick look back to share my weekend with you. . .

Pumping it up. Love that shirt – “show your body who’s boss – Les Mills”

woke up to a winter wonderland on Saturday. thankfully it quickly melted.

errands on saturday. grocery store and Sam’s Club. Including spotting this water pad at Sam’s

– they were the water toy to have on the Lake last year. . .but I’m not sure if it would be worth the price. . .

Finally painted the extra upstairs bedroom! Big shout out to my husband who did most of the work. . . Winking smile

Right now it’s just an extra bedroom with all our extra furniture. . . but it looks much better with a fresh coat of paint!

Luke requested “carrot juice” – basically because he loves putting the carrots into the juicer. And he is SO careful when doing it.

And then he sucks down his glass faster than either of us and then proceeds to drink ours too. #toddlerproblems

family date to panera. and Luke wanting to show off his belt.

and Target. where Luke wanted me to take pictures of all the toys he wants for his birthday. dream big kid.

*not shown are the 17 other pictures I took for him. . . if he could have picked up the entire Paw Patrol section for the picture, he probably would have!

treadmill run + reviewing choreo for BP85 this week.

and THESE. seriously. the best candy ever.

and #balance. a new blender bottle with fruit punch spark. pink for the win. and I just ordered the newest spark flavor – Limeade! Chris says it tastes like margarita and I’m SO excited!!

and OMG finished House of Cards season 4. and whaaaaat?? I cannot wait until 2017!?! for season 5. I hate and love that show all at once.

And now Scott and I need something else to watch on Netflix – suggestions??

And now off to work! Have a great one!

Friday Favorites: Moving Chaos

This week has been crazy.

Between working and getting sick and being in Wisconsin to move and getting the house ready for the movers to come TODAY, I am done. Ready for the weekend. Ready to order pizza and sit on the couch. Let me say that again – sit on the couch. We haven’t had a couch to sit on in over a month! I’m not naïve, today is going to be a long day with boxes, unpacking, cleaning, organizing and chaos. But it will all be worth it.

Wish me luck and enjoy my favorites from this week. . .

wicked good salads from Panera. This one was the ancient grape, arugula and chicken salad.

5:15AM BODYPUMP class with my newest Fabletics capris.

Making paint choices. And getting the painting done!

I painted Luke’s room. His favorite color – green!

Drinking an iced latte while driving with the heated steering wheel on. . . #minnesotalife

Reading books and taking silly selfies with my favorite little boy.

What have you been loving lately? Plans for the weekend??

Friday Favorites: 11/22/13

Raise your hand if you are excited for the weekend! You better believe I have like 6 hands up. Wait, what? Nevermind, just know that I am super excited for this weekend! This morning I finish up my spin training by teaching a full class – wish me luck! Saturday is Thanksgiving with The Thompsons (Scott’s family) and Sunday is football!!

Here are my favorites from this week. . .

Panera caramel skim latte.

I had a sad day last week when I ordered a large but got a regular. . . and didn’t realize until I got to work. Oh sadness. I mentioned it on the next trip to Panera and they totally made my day by giving me my caramel skim latte – large – on the house to make up for the previous week. Love my local Panera. Extra points for having a drive thru.

Carmelitas and text messages proclaiming love for them.

Key lime pretzels – from Nuts.com

OMG so good. Like so good. This bag didn’t have a chance in our house. Luke walked around asking for “pretzel, pretzel.” He would take the bag off the shelf and crawl into his highchair and ask for them.

And Scott likes to pretend he doesn’t hear him asking so he doesn’t have to share. Of course the bag that they were nice enough to send me to check out is long gone. And now I need to order like 9 more. . .

Border battles – Packers vs Vikings this Sunday at noon. GO PACK GO!!
Fingers crossed that Rodgers can be back in action for the game. And I
am super excited about making these.

Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza Pinwheels are a fun way to enjoy all the fantastic flavors of a Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza! | MomOnTimeout.com

Cards from friends. Thanks Caroline!

Fro yo dates. Thursday night perfection.

What are some of your favs from the week??

Have a great weekend!!

Treat Yourself Tuesday #2

Treat Yourself Tuesday Badge

Another Tuesday, and another treat yourself post! Check out my 1st one here!! Thanks again to my awesome blend, Becky, for hosting this linkup!!

On Saturday I had the rare opportunity to have the day by myself.

Grandma and Grandpa took Luke to the lake for the weekend. Scott stayed in Mankato to take care of some work. And it didn’t make sense for me to drive back to Mankato, just to drive back to the cities on Sunday. So, I took full advantage of having a day to myself! And the fact that I wasn’t at home, meant that I didn’t have any housework, unpacking, etc. to feel bad about doing or not doing!

So, I started the day with a 7 mile run with my friend Sue. We went to one of my favorite places – Pike Island.

And then Caribou coffee.

And new Jamberry nails (<–FYI link to my online party).

Lunch at Panera with Melanie. Squash soup of course!

An afternoon on the couch, in front of the fire, in my pajama pants.

Dinner with my handsome husband. And spending time making some fun choices for our new house!!

And cupcakes.

It was the perfect treat yourself day. Smile

What have you done to treat yourself lately?

Don’t forget to enter my Wholly guacamole giveaway – ends tonight at midnight!!

Weekend Update: 10/20/13–Des Moines

Hey there! How was your weekend? Mine was really good. Scott and I headed down to Des Moines on Saturday, ran the half marathon on Sunday and came back on Monday. Having Monday off made the weekend seem really long and it was pretty awesome. I am going to do a full race recap later this weekend, but for now, here is a weekend recap!

My weekend started with “just because” roses from Scott – in pink – my favorite!!

And then we decided that we needed to really try out the new Ninja blender – and made mint chocolate chip shakes. Ummm super easy. Ice cream and milk –> awesomeness. The perfect way to start the weekend.

Abby loves her new birthday toys from Laura.

Luke’s new favorite thing is to sit in this basket.

Luke and I did chores around the house. He LOVES emptying the dishwasher. And then he rode his pony in the kitchen. We put it in his bedroom every night and every morning he drags it back out into the kitchen. . .

One last run to stretch out the legs before the race.

Mom came down to watch Luke while we were in Des Moines and we went out to Axel’s Bonfire. Luke loved petting the chairs and watching them make pizzas.

And who doesn’t like make your own sundaes?

And I checked out jamberry nails. Much easier than I was thinking – and super cute. Can’t wait to check out the other designs. And peanut butter m and m’s that came with Abby’s birthday present from Laura. She knows me so well. They are my favorite!!

On Saturday, we took Mom out to see the house.  .  .

And then headed to Des Moines. First stop –> Palmer’s Deli.

Then, race packet pickup and expo. We hung out around Des Moines and went to my favorite Target ever – the Super Target in West Des Moines. When I lived here for medical school, I was within walking distance of this place and it. was. awesome.

Potato pancakes are the perfect pre-race dinner.

Early bedtime for the early wakeup call on Saturday.

And true statement that Caribou makes you run faster.

More race details in the recap but overall it went really well and we finished under our goal of 2 hours.

We spent most of the day watching football and lounging around.
And then headed to Red Robin for our post – race shakes and burgers.

And then walked around Lowe’s looking at light fixtures and kitchen options for the new house. <—being an adult is so exciting. Winking smile

Monday morning means Panera. Cinnamon crunch bagel for Scott and cinnamon crunch scone for me and a caramel latte with skim milk to share.

And of course we couldn’t leave Des Moines without checking out this place.

YUM!!  –> Weekend perfection – running and cupcakes. Smile

How was your weekend? Hope you week is off to a great start. Happy Tuesday!

Friday Favorites: 10/18/13

Happy Friday!!! woo hoo, right? Winking smile We are headed to Des Moines tomorrow and the half marathon is on Sunday. Think good thoughts for us! Hopefully there are a lot of good spectators (minus a sprinkler – too chilly!!).  I’ll be back on Monday with a recap of the weekend and hopefully some good pictures. Until then, enjoy some of my favorites from the past week..  .

Perfect Halloween decoration. Laura and I made this last year with Luke’s feet and my feet. And I made two – so I have one hanging at work and one at home.

And I still really loving my fall decoration. And it was so flipping easy!

Des Moines – I am super exited to be heading back to Des Moines this year for the half marathon. The first stop will definitely be at Palmer’s Deli – my favorite place to eat in Des Moines! Their sandwiches and salads are awesome.

And I am really happy to be running the half with this guy again. . .

The dollar store. . . seriously, this place is awesome. How do I always forget to check it out?!? I got these cute work zone cones for Luke and some Halloween candy (sixlets – anybody else love those from their childhood?). It’s a good place to wander around. . . I had an extra 20 minutes before meeting Scott for lunch last week and this was the perfect place to go!!

Panera Autumn Squash soup. oh my goodness. so good. It’s like fall in a bowl. Bonus points if you get it in the bread bowl.

And my random favorite thing for the week (remember those pickles from last week?). . . this food network mini muffin tin. How is everything better in a mini muffin tin? I think I have made mini muffins every weekend for the past 6 weeks. My absolute favorite? Banana nut muffins!! And those mini pumpkin muffins are a close second. Winking smile

Happy weekend!! Any plans??

Weekend Update: 10/13/13

Hey! How was your weekend? Mine was fabulous!!

It started with lunch with my favorite husband and my new favorite soup – the Autumn Squash soup at Panera – OMG so good!!

And when did Luke get so big?? 18 months old on Wednesday!

And a puppy. . .

Scott’s parents came down on Saturday to watch Luke while we went out for our last long run before the half marathon this next weekend. . .

the most annoying part of the run. . .

10 miles done! Both Scott and I agreed that it went by really fast. It was a windy 50 degrees but surprisingly really good running weather.

And then we took Way and Lee over to look at the house progress. . .

Followed by dinner at Axel’s Bonfire. . .

And that was followed by some TV time and these brownies that Way made.  . .

Sunday funday. . .

Luke and I went out for a run. 1st run of the season with long sleeve and thumb holes!

Run time/nap time

Snuggles on the couch. . . while watching the Packers win! Go Pack.

Then, we met some friends (Matt, Sarah and Brynn) for dinner at “the ranch”

And we ended our Sunday night with more snuggling on the couch and the Amazing Race. I don’t think it gets any better than that, does it?

What were you up to this weekend??

Friday favorites: 5/17/13

Oh man I have the best weekend coming up. .. tonight I am having dinner with my sisters at The Melting Pot – gooey cheese and chocolate fondue –>YES! Then, on Saturday hanging out with the family. Luke is at such a fun age to play with, so I really look forward to spending time just hanging out with him. Saturday night, Laura, is going to come down. We are going to grill – Bacon cheeseburgers!! and I am planning some baking too. Winking smile Sunday morning –> BODYPUMP!! And then my parent’s are coming down to hang out and go out to dinner. So, busy weekend coming up and I am super excited!!! And I don’t even care that it is supposed to rain ALL weekend. ..

Here are some of my favorites from the past week. . .

This way of cooking the perfect chicken breast that I learned from Iowa Girl Eats. . .
1. Pound out chicken to uniform thickness between two sheets of plastic wrap
2. Season really well with salt and pepper
3. Cook in a medium-high pan
4. About 4 minutes per side – until browned and cooked through

I love this planner. . .it is just from Target. (Blue Sky).

But I love that it is pink. Has monthly tabs. And extra pages in the back for notes and blog stuff! I have tried to use my phone to keep track of everything, but I just like regular pen and paper –> especially colored pens!! Winking smile

These socks from Feetures!

I wear them all. the. time. I am literally wearing them right now. It is ridiculous! BTW did you enter my giveaway to win a pair of Feetures! socks?

My husband.. .  I really don’t talk about how awesome he is nearly enough. Smile

He is definitely one of my favorites! And especially because he could laugh this morning about the fact that last night I woke him up, to ask him if he was awake, to go take care of the baby. .. which he did! I don’t think I was his favorite person after that last night, but we both laughed about it when this morning I said “BTW, sorry about last night!”

The “My Panera Card” from Panera. . . it gets you free rewards. If you don’t have one, just ask for one the next time you go. This week –> a free caramel skim latte.

A perfect Thursday pick-me-up!! And did you hear? The Strawberry poppy seed salad is back for summer. . . only the best salad ever!!

Any favorites from the week??? Any big plans for the weekend?

But first – strawberry smoothie snack from Panera. Have you had one? They are ah-mazing!

Sharing puffs with Aunt Jenny at lunchtime.

Puppy dog snuggles.  . .

Ice cream selection at the blogger get-together at Sebastian Joe’s.

Thanks again for the great chat and ice cream ladies!

From the left – me, Diana, Beth, Melanie, Becky and Kendra.

Then, Easter basket fun at Grandma and Grandpa’s. . .

And the Easter bunny didn’t forget me either. . . and fun fact for you – Cadbury mini eggs –> my all time favorite candy. It’s probably a good thing they are only available at Easter time.

Laura and I did another hand print craft with Luke. . . more details soon!

And finished with bath time with Aunt Laura.

Sunday was a low key day. I taught body pump at the YMCA, visited a friend who just had a baby 2 weeks ago (so tiny!), and lots of playing and chasing. Smile

Hope you guys had a great weekend too! What were you up to???
