Weekend Update: 10/6/13

Oh Monday, how is it already you again already? Well, thankfully
because of my Sunday night being so crazy (I’ll get to that in a
minute), I didn’t have time to write my weekend update post last
night, so it is already Monday night! That’s something to smile about,
right? Smile

Anyway, backing up to cover my weekend. . .

Taught some bodypump.

Family run.

Checked out the progress on our new house.

Had an awesome dinner thanks to this stuff

And an even more awesome dessert thanks to baked apple (made in the
microwave), topped with granola and cookie butter –> the stuff Caroline
gave me at HLS!

And I made sure to share with Abby. . .

And I am not sure who is more excited about our new blender…  a huge
thanks to Ninja for sending me this awesome Ninja Ultima Blender.

I met the crew at HLS and checked this bad boy out. . . I may have almost cried when they said that they would like to send me one. Because my old blender was on it’s last legs. . . Luke would cry when I would blend a smoothie because it was so loud. I couldn’t blend anything after he went to bed because it would wake him up. . . I even sent Scott out with the blender to the garage one night to blend up some smoothies.

So, needless to say, I needed a new one!! I am so excited, I don’t
even know what to make first . . . any suggestions?

PJ time.

Followed by cereal time. . . and clean up time.

And I made some ah-mazing pumpkin bars. Recipe coming on Thursday!!

Is there anything cuter than a toddler in overalls? I can’t even. . .

Met Sue for a run at one of my favorite spots – Summit Ave.

And yes, I will bribe someone to run with me. 

And finally it was time to head downtown for Wicked with Laura.

We had dinner at Marin, which was perfect because it was right across
the street from the Orpheum. The dinner was just ok. . . nothing amazing. Laura’s black cod was the highlight though. . .

But Wicked was absolutely amazing. We totally scored some 8th row
tickets and it was just perfect. My favorite of the night was defying gravity. Elphaba was fabulous, played by Alison Luff.

Sunday morning, playing with Grandpa in the truck and with Aunt Laura
in her car. ..

Then, back to Mankato. . . for some football – and a Packers win!! Go Pack Go.

Followed by a run – 12.5 miles for me, and Scott joined me for 9.1. In
the rain. Longest run before the Des Moines Half Marathon in 2 weeks.

And then I collapsed. I didn’t feel good. My stomach was upset. And I
spend the rest of the night on the couch. Which, after I felt a little
better, actually ended up being pretty nice… . Leftovers for dinner
and Amazing Race on TV. Smile

How was your weekend? What was the highlight?

  4. Sounds like it was a busy but fun weekend! There is nothing worse than a noisy blender – especially when you’ve just woken up at 5am and that’s the first sound you hear.

  5. Wicked is the BEST. I saw it twice on broadway. Defying gravity made me cry it was so beautifully done!

Yes – I just love it. Can’t wait to see it again – maybe on Broadway because that would be super cool.

Holy moly you fit a lot into one weekend! Bummer on Marin but I’m sure it would have been overshadowed by Wicked either way 🙂 So jealous that you’ve already received your blender – I want mine 🙁

  7. It looks like you were really busy this weekend! I love Wicked, so hopefully that made up for the less than great meal beforehand. I like your pumpkin bar baking little helper!

  8. Wow, every time I think I’m good at fitting a lot into a day your schedule totally blows me away. Looks like a great weekend! I also would love to hear more about this apple/oatmeal/cookie butter concoction you speak of because it sounds incredible.

It really was! All you do is cut up an apple and microwave for about 2 minutes, so it get a little soft and warm. Top with granola and cookie butter (or any nut butter) = delicious dessert/snack/lunch/etc. 🙂

  9. I am loving my Ninja too! You are coming to Des Moines for the marathon?! I’m working a booth at the expo/packet pick-up on Friday night and plan to be at the Lululemon Revival Party on race day to cheer on all my friends who are running! Maybe we could meet up. Glad you had a great weekend!

  10. You’re a Packer fan?! I think I love you even more 😉 Good job on your long run!!! I have the WhistleStop half marathon this weekend in Ashland, WI and I haven’t even ran over seven miles. Whoops!

I have heard that Whistle Stop is an awesome race – have fun!! And don’t worry about your training, just do it for fun and don’t worry about it. 🙂

  11. Love the new pictures in your banner!! Also, I was so obsessed with Alison Luff that I now follow her on Instagram. No shame.

This weekend I PRed in a 10k (Run10 Feed10) and then “rehydrated” with some Apple Cider Sangria and candy corn Oreo Brownies. Cause ya know, that’s how I refuel 🙂
