Weekend Update: 5/19/13

I went for a 5 mile run with Sue on Summit Ave. (one of my running favs!)

And just as we were both commenting what nice weather it was for a run, it started to sprinkle. . . then rain, then downpour. And then we turned around and realized we had been running with the wind and the rain. To say we were soaked, would be an understatement.

But we had a good run! And it was nice to catch up – I don’t think I have seen her since the Winter Carnival Half Marathon. Thanks for the run Sue!

Then, I had about an hour to kill before I had to pick Scott up from a training session he was at. . . so I took my wet self to wander around at Trader Joe’s.

You guys were right, they have some decent prices on items. But, there are impulse buys around every corner! More details coming in this weeks grocery challenge update but spoiler, I only spent $23.82. . .which I thought was a total victory based on the amount of things I wanted to get/try! BTW – has anyone had their curry sauces?

Then, an awesome dinner with my sisters at The Melting Pot in Minneapolis. Full review of our fondue dinner this week!

Saturday was filled with errands and chores around the house. And some baking! When I saw this recipe for salted caramel chocolate chip cookie bars from Taylor at Greens & Chocolate last week, I knew I had to make them this weekend!! The perfect mix of chocolate, caramel and salt.

And finished off Saturday night with some TV time and Laura painting my toenails. . . She does a much better job than I ever could. Winking smile

Sunday started with Chobani Perfect Pancakes . . .Abby is such a good helper cleaning our the yogurt containers.

Seriously though, have you guys ever made these pancakes – the Chobani yogurt makes them so light and fluffy!

Followed by an awesome BODYPUMP class – that Laura came to!

Then, more stuff around the house. Hanging out with Laura and watching Luke run around. Fro yo!

Mom and Dad came down to hang out. Dad, Abby and I went for a run. And then out to dinner.

Like usual, I am totally bummed that the weekend is over.. .  but man, it was a great weekend filled with family, food, and running. You can’t get any better than that!!

    I’m glad you got a good run and a Body Pump class in!
    We shopped a little in downtown Flagstaff and will head to the Grand Canyon tomorrow.

  3. Sounds like a great weekend! I definitely want to try out those caramel & chocolate chip bars. We had a great weekend filled with birthday parties, running at the park (stroller jogs are TOUGH, especially when they involve big hills!), a Girls on the Run youth run for my 3 y/o, and froyo. Whew! I was exhausted last night!

      I agree- running with the stroller is HARD! I try to think of it as an extra workout bonus. 😉

      I actually really like to run in the rain – as long as the temp isn’t too cold! I’m just sorta crazy like that!! And you totally have to make Chobani pancakes for your boy – Luke loves them. And I always make extra and just keep them in the freezer and pull out 1 or 2 for breakfast and heat it up in the microwave! That was actually our breakfast this morning. Also, the recipe is good with fruit yogurt too – strawberry or blueberry is our favs!
