WIAW: The Great MN get-together–2014

I am linking up with Peas & Crayons for What I Ate Wednesday this week for a look at what we ate at the MN State Fair last weekend. . .

We started with a new fair food – pretzel cheese curds. ummmm deliciousness.

And one of our new favorites from last year – deep fried bread pudding. Don’t be deterred if you don’t like bread pudding.  .. it’s more like deep fried French toast with a caramel drizzle. Amazing.

Fair staple – mini doughnuts.

Another fair staple – corn on the cob. Ridiculously overpriced but super yummy.

Greek yogurt sample.

A new one for us – Minneapple pie with cinnamon ice cream. No go. Not good. I think this was my first did not finish fair food.

Beer fixes everything.

Pizza tots. Another new fair food. Decent, but probably won’t get them again.

Strawberry smoothie. Fresh strawberries – yum!

And we always finish with a bucket of Sweet Martha’s cookies to eat on the way home and for the next few weeks. Winking smile

Until next year. . .

Love the MN state fair. We didn’t make it this year because taking a 4 month old sounds awful! Funny fact: my mom is good friends with e owner of the corn roast and we get it free always! My brother also worked it for a couple years, but it’s sooooo dirty you have to litterally throw away your clothes everynight!!!

Ahhhh bummer. We took Luke when he was 4 months old and he just slept through the whole thing. 🙂 And free corn sounds amazing.

  6. Fair food is always so fascinating to me. I have no idea how they can still find new things to fry! The pretzel curds and bread pudding looks amazing!

  10. I don’t normally eat fried food. But I would have to make an exception with these. Those bread pudding bites and pretzels look delicious. Plus fairs only come once a year to try these foods.

  13. A bucket of cookies + pretzel cheese curds. WOW. Fairs are so much fun–I never went to them with my family growing up but I did go with a friend’s family to one and it was so incredible. I think that fair was like an apple harvest one so it was everything apple. And I was like 7. Wonderland.
